1 C ine iubeşte disciplinarea, iubeşte cunoştinţa, dar cel ce urăşte mustrarea este prost.

Whoso loveth correction loveth knowledge; But he that hateth reproof is brutish.

2 C el bun obţine bunăvoinţă de la Domnul, dar El condamnă pe omul cu intenţii rele.

A good man shall obtain favor of Jehovah; But a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

3 O mul nu se poate întări prin răutate, dar cel drept nu poate fi dezrădăcinat.

A man shall not be established by wickedness; But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

4 O soţie virtuoasă este coroana soţului ei, dar cea care-i aduce ruşine este ca putrezirea în oasele lui.

A worthy woman is the crown of her husband; But she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

5 P lanurile celor drepţi sunt chibzuite, dar sfaturile celor răi sunt înşelătoare.

The thoughts of the righteous are just; But the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

6 C uvintele celor răi stau la pândă ca să verse sânge, dar vorbirea celor drepţi îi va salva.

The words of the wicked are of lying in wait for blood; But the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

7 C ei răi sunt doborâţi şi nu mai sunt, dar casa celor drepţi rămâne în picioare.

The wicked are overthrown, and are not; But the house of the righteous shall stand.

8 U n om este lăudat potrivit priceperii lui, dar cel ce are mintea stricată va fi dispreţuit.

A man shall be commended according to his wisdom; But he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

9 M ai bine lipsit de importanţă, dar cu servitor, decât fudul şi fără mâncare!

Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, Than he that honoreth himself, and lacketh bread.

10 C elui drept îi pasă de nevoile animalului său, dar faptele binevoitoare ale celor răi sunt fără milă.

A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 C ine îşi lucrează pământul se va sătura de pâine, dar cel ce umblă după deşertăciuni este fără minte.

He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread; But he that followeth after vain persons is void of understanding.

12 C el rău pofteşte prada celor ticăloşi, dar rădăcina celor drepţi va rodi.

The wicked desireth the net of evil men; But the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

13 C el rău este prins în cursă de vorbirea lui păcătoasă, dar cel drept scapă din necaz.

In the transgression of the lips is a snare to the evil man; But the righteous shall come out of trouble.

14 P rin rodul gurii lui, omul va fi săturat de bunătăţi şi fiecare va fi răsplătit după lucrul mâinilor lui.

A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; And the doings of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

15 C alea prostului este corectă în ochii lui, dar cel înţelept ascultă sfaturile.

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; But he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.

16 C el prost îşi dă la iveală îndată mânia, dar cel prudent ascunde insulta.

A fool's vexation is presently known; But a prudent man concealeth shame.

17 M artorul adevărat depune o mărturie dreaptă, dar martorul fals spune minciuni.

He that uttereth truth showeth forth righteousness; But a false witness, deceit.

18 C uvintele necugetate sunt ca străpungerile unei săbii, dar limba celui înţelept aduce vindecare.

There is that speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword; But the tongue of the wise is health.

19 B uzele sincere sunt întărite pentru totdeauna, dar limba mincinoasă rezistă doar pentru o clipă.

The lip of truth shall be established for ever; But a lying tongue is but for a moment.

20 Î nşelătoria este în inima celor ce plănuiesc răul, dar bucuria este pentru cei împăciuitori.

Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; But to the counsellors of peace is joy.

21 C el drept nu are parte de nici o nenorocire, dar cel rău este copleşit de necazuri.

There shall no mischief happen to the righteous; But the wicked shall be filled with evil.

22 B uzele mincinoase sunt o urâciune înaintea Domnului, dar cei credincioşi adevărului Îi sunt plăcuţi.

Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; But they that deal truly are his delight.

23 O mul prudent ascunde cunoştinţa, dar inima proştilor vesteşte prostia.

A prudent man concealeth knowledge; But the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

24 M âinile harnice vor domni, dar leneşul va sfârşi la muncă forţată.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; But the slothful shall be put under taskwork.

25 N eliniştea inimii omului duce la descurajare, dar o vorbă bună îl înveseleşte.

Heaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop; But a good word maketh it glad.

26 C el drept îşi alege cu grijă prietenii, dar calea celor răi îi duce în rătăcire.

The righteous is a guide to his neighbor; But the way of the wicked causeth them to err.

27 L eneşul nu-şi frige vânatul, dar omul harnic îşi preţuieşte bunurile.

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting; But the precious substance of men is to the diligent.

28 P e cărarea dreptăţii este viaţă; de-a lungul ei nu este moarte.

In the way of righteousness is life; And in the pathway thereof there is no death.
