1 D avid i-a strâns din nou pe toţi vitejii din Israel, în număr de treizeci de mii de bărbaţi.

And David again gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

2 A poi David şi toţi oamenii care erau împreună cu el, au plecat din Baala lui Iuda, aducând de acolo Chivotul lui Dumnezeu, Chivotul care poartă Numele, Numele Domnului Oştirilor, Cel Care şade între heruvimii de deasupra lui.

And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him, from Baale-judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, which is called by the Name, even the name of Jehovah of hosts that sitteth above the cherubim.

3 A u aşezat Chivotul lui Dumnezeu într-un car nou, după ce l-au luat din casa lui Abinadab, de pe deal. Uza şi Ahio, fiii lui Abinadab, conduceau carul cel nou.

And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in the hill: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart.

4 E i l-au adus, împreună cu Chivotul lui Dumnezeu, din casa lui Abinadab, de pe deal. Ahio mergea în faţa Chivotului.

And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was in the hill, with the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.

5 D avid şi toată Casa lui Israel sărbătoreau înaintea Domnului cu toată puterea, cântând din lire, din harfe, din tamburine, din sistre şi din talgere.

And David and all the house of Israel played before Jehovah with all manner of instruments made of fir-wood, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with castanets, and with cymbals.

6 C ând au ajuns la aria lui Nahon, Uza şi-a întins mâna să apuce Chivotul lui Dumnezeu deoarece era să-l răstoarne boii.

And when they came to the threshing-floor of Nacon, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen stumbled.

7 A tunci mânia Domnului s-a aprins împotriva lui Uza şi Dumnezeu l-a lovit acolo pentru neglijenţa lui. Uza a murit acolo, lângă Chivotul lui Dumnezeu.

And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

8 D avid s-a mâniat pentru că mânia Domnului izbucnise împotriva lui Uza şi a numit acel loc Pereţ-Uza, nume care i-a rămas până în ziua de azi.

And David was displeased, because Jehovah had broken forth upon Uzzah; and he called that place Perez-uzzah, unto this day.

9 D avid s-a temut de Domnul în acea zi şi a zis: „Cum să vină Chivotul Domnului la mine?“

And David was afraid of Jehovah that day; and he said, How shall the ark of Jehovah come unto me?

10 Ş i David n-a vrut să mai aducă Chivotul Domnului în Cetatea lui David, ci l-a dus în casa lui Obed-Edom, ghititul.

So David would not remove the ark of Jehovah unto him into the city of David; but David carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

11 C hivotul Domnului a rămas în casa lui Obed-Edom, ghititul, timp de trei luni, iar Domnul l-a binecuvântat pe Obed-Edom împreună cu întreaga lui familie.

And the ark of Jehovah remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and Jehovah blessed Obed-edom, and all his house.

12 I s-a spus regelui David că Domnul a binecuvântat familia lui Obed-Edom şi tot ceea ce are, din pricina Chivotului lui Dumnezeu. Atunci David s-a dus şi a adus Chivotul lui Dumnezeu din casa lui Obed-Edom în Cetatea lui David, în mijlocul bucuriei.

And it was told king David, saying, Jehovah hath blessed the house of Obed-edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. And David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with joy.

13 D upă fiecare şase paşi pe care-i făceau cei care duceau Chivotul Domnului, David jertfea un bou şi un viţel gras.

And it was so, that, when they that bare the ark of Jehovah had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling.

14 D avid dansa cu toată puterea înaintea Domnului, încins cu un efod de in.

And David danced before Jehovah with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

15 D avid împreună cu toată Casa lui Israel aduceau Chivotul Domnului în mijlocul strigătelor şi al sunetului de corn. Mihal îl mustră pe David

So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of Jehovah with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

16 Î n timp ce Chivotul Domnului intra în Cetatea lui David, Mihal, fiica lui Saul, se uita pe fereastră. Când l-a văzut pe regele David, sărind şi dansând înaintea Domnului, l-a dispreţuit în inima ei.

And it was so, as the ark of Jehovah came into the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before Jehovah; and she despised him in her heart.

17 A u adus Chivotul Domnului şi l-au aşezat la locul lui, în mijlocul cortului pe care i l-a întins David. Apoi David a adus înaintea Domnului arderi de tot şi jertfe de pace.

And they brought in the ark of Jehovah, and set it in its place, in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it; and David offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before Jehovah.

18 D upă ce a terminat de adus arderile de tot şi jertfele de pace, David a binecuvântat poporul în Numele Domnului Oştirilor

And when David had made an end of offering the burnt-offering and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Jehovah of hosts.

19 ş i a împărţit la tot poporul, întregii adunări a lui Israel, fiecărui bărbat şi fiecărei femei, câte o pâine, o bucată de carne şi o turtă cu stafide. Apoi tot poporul a plecat, fiecare la casa lui.

And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, both to men and women, to every one a cake of bread, and a portion of flesh, and a cake of raisins. So all the people departed every one to his house.

20 C ând David s-a întors să-şi binecuvânteze familia, Mihal, fiica lui Saul, i-a ieşit în întâmpinare şi i-a zis: – Cu câtă cinste s-a purtat regele lui Israel astăzi, descoperindu-se în faţa slujnicelor slujitorilor săi, aşa cum s-ar fi descoperit un om de nimic!

Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to-day, who uncovered himself to-day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!

21 D avid i-a răspuns lui Mihal: – Înaintea Domnului, Care m-a ales mai presus decât pe tatăl tău şi mai presus decât pe oricine din familia lui şi m-a pus drept conducător peste poporul Domnului, peste Israel, înaintea Lui am dansat.

And David said unto Michal, It was before Jehovah, who chose me above thy father, and above all his house, to appoint me prince over the people of Jehovah, over Israel: therefore will I play before Jehovah.

22 M ă voi arăta şi mai de nimic decât atât şi mă voi înjosi şi mai mult în ochii mei. Dar faţă de slujnicele despre care vorbeai mă voi arăta cu cinste.

And I will be yet more vile than this, and will be base in mine own sight: but of the handmaids of whom thou hast spoken, of them shall I be had in honor.

23 M ihal, fiica lui Saul, n-a mai avut copii până în ziua morţii ei.

And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.
