1 H e aquí todo esto han visto mis ojos, lo ha escuchado y entendido mi oído.

Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.

2 L o que vosotros sabéis yo también lo sé; no soy menos que vosotros.

What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.

3 P ero quiero hablar al Todopoderoso, y deseo argumentar con Dios.

Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

4 M as vosotros sois forjadores de mentiras; todos vosotros sois médicos inútiles.

But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.

5 ¡ Quién diera que guardarais completo silencio y se convirtiera esto en vuestra sabiduría!

O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

6 O íd, os ruego, mi razonamiento, y prestad atención a los argumentos de mis labios.

Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.

7 ¿ Hablaréis por Dios lo que es injusto y diréis por El lo que es engañoso?

Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?

8 ¿ Mostraréis por El parcialidad ? ¿Contenderéis por Dios?

Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?

9 ¿ Os irá bien cuando El os escudriñe, o le engañaréis como se engaña a un hombre ?

Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?

10 C iertamente El os reprenderá si en secreto mostráis parcialidad.

He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.

11 ¿ No os llenará de temor su majestad, y no caerá sobre vosotros su terror ?

Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?

12 V uestras máximas son proverbios de ceniza, vuestras defensas son defensas de barro.

Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.

13 C allad delante de mí para que pueda hablar yo; y venga sobre mí lo que venga.

Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.

14 ¿ Por qué me he de quitar la carne con mis dientes, y poner mi vida en mis manos ?

Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?

15 A unque El me mate, en El esperaré; pero defenderé mis caminos delante de El.

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

16 E sta también será mi salvación, porque un impío no comparecería en su presencia.

He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

17 E scuchad atentamente mis palabras, y que mi declaración llene vuestros oídos.

Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.

18 H e aquí ahora, yo he preparado mi causa; sé que seré justificado.

Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.

19 ¿ Quién contenderá conmigo ?, porque entonces me callaría y moriría.

Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.

20 S ólo dos cosas deseo que hagas conmigo, y no me esconderé de tu rostro:

Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.

21 Q ue retires de mí tu mano, y que tu terror no me espante.

Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.

22 E ntonces llámame, y yo responderé; o déjame hablar, y respóndeme tú.

Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.

23 ¿ Cuántas son mis iniquidades y pecados? Hazme conocer mi rebelión y mi pecado.

How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.

24 ¿ Por qué escondes tu rostro y me consideras tu enemigo ?

Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?

25 ¿ Harás que tiemble una hoja llevada por el viento, o perseguirás a la paja seca?

Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?

26 P ues escribes contra mí cosas amargas, y me haces responsable de las iniquidades de mi juventud.

For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

27 P ones mis pies en el cepo, y vigilas todas mis sendas; pones límite a las plantas de mis pies,

Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.

28 m ientras me deshago como cosa podrida, como vestido comido de polilla.

And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
