1 I n those days was Hezekiah sick and near death. Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him, and said to him, “Yahweh says, ‘Set your house in order, for you will die, and not live.’”

En aquellos días Ezequías enfermó de muerte. Y el profeta Isaías hijo de Amoz, vino a él y le dijo: «Esto dice Jehová: “Ordena los asuntos de tu casa, porque vas a morir. Ya no vivirás.”»

2 T hen Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to Yahweh,

Entonces volvió Ezequías su rostro a la pared e hizo oración a Jehová,

3 a nd said, “Remember now, Yahweh, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight.” Hezekiah wept bitterly.

y dijo: «Jehová, te ruego que recuerdes ahora que he andado delante de ti en verdad y con íntegro corazón, y que he hecho lo que ha sido agradable delante de tus ojos.» Y lloró Ezequías con gran llanto.

4 T hen Yahweh’s word came to Isaiah, saying,

Entonces vino palabra de Jehová a Isaías, diciendo:

5 “ Go, and tell Hezekiah, ‘Yahweh says, the God of David your father, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.

«Ve y dile a Ezequías: “Jehová, Dios de tu padre David, dice así: ‘He oído tu oración y he visto tus lágrimas; he aquí que yo añado a tus días quince años.

6 I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city.

Te libraré, a ti y a esta ciudad, de manos del rey de Asiria; y a esta ciudad ampararé.

7 T his shall be the sign to you from Yahweh, that Yahweh will do this thing that he has spoken.

Esto te será por señal de parte de Jehová, que Jehová hará esto que ha dicho:

8 B ehold, I will cause the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down on the sundial of Ahaz with the sun, to return backward ten steps. So the sun returned ten steps on the sundial on which it had gone down.”’”

He aquí, yo haré regresar la sombra diez grados más de los grados que ya ha descendido en el reloj de Acaz.’”» Y volvió el sol diez grados atrás, sobre los cuales ya había descendido.

9 T he writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and had recovered of his sickness.

Escrito de Ezequías, rey de Judá, de cuando enfermó y sanó de su enfermedad:

10 I said, “In the middle of my life I go into the gates of Sheol. I am deprived of the residue of my years.”

«Yo dije: “En la mitad de mis días me iré a las puertas del seol; privado soy del resto de mis años.”

11 I said, “I won’t see Yah, Yah in the land of the living. I will see man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

Y dije: “No veré a Jah, a Jah en la tierra de los vivientes; ya no veré más a los hombres entre los moradores del mundo.

12 M y dwelling is removed, and is carried away from me like a shepherd’s tent. I have rolled up, like a weaver, my life. He will cut me off from the loom. From day even to night you will make an end of me.

Mi morada ha sido movida y traspasada de mí, como una tienda de pastor. Como un tejedor yo devanaba mi vida; pero él la va a cortar del telar. ¡Tú me consumirás entre el día y la noche!”

13 I waited patiently until morning. He breaks all my bones like a lion. From day even to night you will make an end of me.

Yo clamo hasta la mañana; él, como un león, muele todos mis huesos: de la noche a la mañana terminarás conmigo.

14 I chattered like a swallow or a crane. I moaned like a dove. My eyes weaken looking upward. Lord, I am oppressed. Be my security.”

Como la grulla y como la golondrina me estoy quejando; gimo como la paloma y alzo hacia lo alto mis ojos. Jehová, violencia padezco, ¡fortaléceme!

15 W hat will I say? He has both spoken to me, and himself has done it. I will walk carefully all my years because of the anguish of my soul.

¿Qué diré? El que me lo dijo, él mismo lo hará. Andaré humillado todos mis años, a causa de la amargura de mi alma.

16 L ord, men live by these things; and my spirit finds life in all of them: you restore me, and cause me to live.

Señor, por estas cosas los hombres viven y en todas ellas está la vida de mi espíritu; pues tú me restablecerás y harás que viva.

17 B ehold, for peace I had great anguish, but you have in love for my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption; for you have cast all my sins behind your back.

He aquí gran amargura me sobrevino en la paz, pero a ti te agradó librar mi vida del hoyo de corrupción, porque echaste tras tus espaldas todos mis pecados.

18 F or Sheol can’t praise you. Death can’t celebrate you. Those who go down into the pit can’t hope for your truth.

Pues el seol no te exaltará ni te alabará la Muerte; ni los que descienden al sepulcro esperarán en tu verdad.

19 T he living, the living, he shall praise you, as I do today. The father shall make known your truth to the children.

El que vive, el que vive, éste te dará alabanza, como yo hoy. El padre hará notoria tu verdad a los hijos.

20 Y ahweh will save me. Therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments all the days of our life in Yahweh’s house.

¡Jehová me salva! Por eso tocaremos nuestros instrumentos y cantaremos en la casa de Jehová todos los días de nuestra vida.»

21 N ow Isaiah had said, “Let them take a cake of figs, and lay it for a poultice on the boil, and he shall recover.”

Y había dicho Isaías: —Tomen una masa de higos y pónganla en la llaga, y sanará.

22 H ezekiah also had said, “What is the sign that I will go up to Yahweh’s house?”

Había asimismo dicho Ezequías: —¿Qué señal tendré de que subiré a la casa de Jehová?
