I will cry to God with my voice, even to God with my voice, and He will give ear and hearken to me.

2 I n der Zeit der Not suche ich den HERRN; meine Hand ist des Nachts ausgereckt und läßt nicht ab; denn meine Seele will sich nicht trösten lassen.

In the day of my trouble I seek (inquire of and desperately require) the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out without slacking up; I refuse to be comforted.

3 W enn ich betrübt bin, so denke ich an Gott; wenn mein Herz in ängsten ist, so rede ich. (Sela.)

I remember God; I am disquieted and I groan; I muse in prayer, and my spirit faints. Selah!

4 M eine Augen hältst du, daß sie wachen; ich bin so ohnmächtig, daß ich nicht reden kann.

You hold my eyes from closing; I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

5 I ch denke der alten Zeit, der vorigen Jahre.

I consider the days of old, the years of bygone times.

6 I ch denke des Nachts an mein Saitenspiel und rede mit meinem Herzen; mein Geist muß forschen.

I call to remembrance my song in the night; with my heart I meditate and my spirit searches diligently:

7 W ird denn der HERR ewiglich verstoßen und keine Gnade mehr erzeigen?

Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favorable no more?

8 I st's denn ganz und gar aus mit seiner Güte, und hat die Verheißung ein Ende?

Have His mercy and loving-kindness ceased forever? Have His promises ended for all time?

9 H at Gott vergessen, gnädig zu sein, und seine Barmherzigkeit vor Zorn verschlossen? (Sela.)

Has God abandoned or forgotten His graciousness? Has He in anger shut up His compassion? Selah!

10 A ber doch sprach ich: Ich muß das leiden; die rechte Hand des Höchsten kann alles ändern.

And I say, This is my appointed lot and trial, but I will recall the years of the right hand of the Most High, for this is my grief, that the right hand of the Most High changes.

11 D arum gedenke ich an die Taten des HERRN; ja, ich gedenke an deine vorigen Wunder

I will recall the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember the wonders of old.

12 u nd rede von allen deinen Werken und sage von deinem Tun.

I will meditate also upon all Your works and consider all Your deeds.

13 G ott, dein Weg ist heilig. Wo ist so ein mächtiger Gott, als du, Gott, bist?

Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary. Who is a great God like our God?

14 D u bist der Gott, der Wunder tut; du hast deine Macht bewiesen unter den Völkern.

You are the God Who does wonders; You have demonstrated Your power among the peoples.

15 D u hast dein Volk erlöst mit Macht, die Kinder Jakobs und Josephs. (Sela.)

You have with Your arm redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah!

16 D ie Wasser sahen dich, Gott, die Wasser sahen dich und ängsteten sich, und die Tiefen tobten.

When the waters saw You, O God, they were afraid; the deep shuddered also, for the waters saw You.

17 D ie dicken Wolken gossen Wasser, die Wolken donnerten, und die Strahlen fuhren daher.

The clouds poured down water, the skies sent out a sound; Your arrows went forth.

18 E s donnerte im Himmel, deine Blitze leuchteten auf dem Erdboden; das Erdreich regte sich und bebte davon.

The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind, the lightnings illumined the world; the earth trembled and shook.

19 D ein Weg war im Meer und dein Pfad in großen Wassern, und man spürte doch deinen Fuß nicht.

Your way was through the sea, and Your paths through the great waters, yet Your footsteps were not traceable, but were obliterated.

20 D u führtest dein Volk wie eine Herde Schafe durch Mose und Aaron.

You led Your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
