1 V ino în ajutor, Doamne, căci se duc cei evlavioşi şi pier cei credincioşi dintre fiii oamenilor!

Help, Yahweh; for the godly man ceases. For the faithful fail from among the children of men.

2 Î n zadar se linguşesc unul pe altul şi vorbesc de la inimă la inimă.

Everyone lies to his neighbor. They speak with flattering lips, and with a double heart.

3 N imicească Domnul buzele linguşitoare şi limba lăudăroasă,

May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts,

4 p e cei care zic: „Cu limba noastră vom reuşi; suntem stăpânii buzelor noastre! Cine poate stăpâni peste noi?“

who have said, “With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?”

5 „ Din pricina violenţei faţă de cel sărman şi a strigătelor celui nevoiaş, chiar acum Mă voi ridica, zice Domnul, şi-i voi mântui de prigonitorul lor.“

“Because of the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says Yahweh; “I will set him in safety from those who malign him.”

6 C uvintele Domnului sunt cuvinte curate, ca argintul purificat într-un cuptor de pământ, rafinat de şapte ori.

Yahweh’s words are flawless words, as silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times.

7 T u, Doamne, ne vei păzi, Tu ne vei păzi în veci de asemenea oameni.

You will keep them, Yahweh. You will preserve them from this generation forever.

8 C ei răi mişună peste tot, când ticăloşia este înălţată printre fiii oamenilor.

The wicked walk on every side, when what is vile is exalted among the sons of men.
