1 D oth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

¿No clama la sabiduría, y levanta su voz la prudencia?

2 S he standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.

En la cima de las alturas, junto al camino, donde cruzan las sendas, se coloca;

3 S he crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.

junto a las puertas, a la salida de la ciudad, en el umbral de las puertas, da voces:

4 U nto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.

Oh hombres, a vosotros clamo, para los hijos de los hombres es mi voz.

5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

Oh simples, aprended prudencia; y vosotros, necios, aprended sabiduría.

6 H ear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

Escuchad, porque hablaré cosas excelentes, y con el abrir de mis labios rectitud.

7 F or my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

Porque mi boca proferirá la verdad, abominación a mis labios es la impiedad.

8 A ll the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

Conforme a la justicia son todas las palabras de mi boca, no hay en ellas nada torcido ni perverso.

9 T hey are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

Todas son sinceras para el que entiende, y rectas para los que han hallado conocimiento.

10 R eceive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

Recibid mi instrucción y no la plata, y conocimiento antes que el oro escogido;

11 F or wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

porque mejor es la sabiduría que las joyas, y todas las cosas deseables no pueden compararse con ella. La sabiduría se elogia a sí misma

12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

Yo, la sabiduría, habito con la prudencia, y he hallado conocimiento y discreción.

13 T he fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

El temor del Señor es aborrecer el mal. El orgullo, la arrogancia, el mal camino y la boca perversa, yo aborrezco.

14 C ounsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

Mío es el consejo y la prudencia, yo soy la inteligencia, el poder es mío.

15 B y me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

Por mí reinan los reyes, y los gobernantes decretan justicia.

16 B y me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

Por mí gobiernan los príncipes y los nobles, todos los que juzgan con justicia.

17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Amo a los que me aman, y los que me buscan con diligencia me hallarán.

18 R iches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

Conmigo están las riquezas y el honor, la fortuna duradera y la justicia.

19 M y fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

Mi fruto es mejor que el oro, que el oro puro, y mi ganancia es mejor que la plata escogida.

20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:

Yo ando por el camino de la justicia, por en medio de las sendas del derecho,

21 t hat I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

para otorgar heredad a los que me aman y así llenar sus tesoros.

22 T he Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

El Señor me poseyó al principio de su camino, antes de sus obras de tiempos pasados.

23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

Desde la eternidad fui establecida, desde el principio, desde los orígenes de la tierra.

24 W hen there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.

Cuando no había abismos fui engendrada, cuando no había manantiales abundantes en aguas.

25 B efore the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:

Antes que los montes fueran asentados, antes que las colinas, fui engendrada,

26 w hile as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

cuando El no había hecho aún la tierra y los campos, ni el polvo primero del mundo.

27 W hen he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

Cuando estableció los cielos, allí estaba yo; cuando trazó un círculo sobre la faz del abismo,

28 w hen he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

cuando arriba afirmó los cielos, cuando las fuentes del abismo se afianzaron,

29 w hen he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

cuando al mar puso sus límites para que las aguas no transgredieran su mandato, cuando señaló los cimientos de la tierra,

30 t hen I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;

yo estaba entonces junto a El, como arquitecto; y era su delicia de día en día, regocijándome en todo tiempo en su presencia,

31 r ejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

regocijándome en el mundo, en su tierra, y teniendo mis delicias con los hijos de los hombres.

32 N ow therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.

Ahora pues, hijos, escuchadme, porque bienaventurados son los que guardan mis caminos.

33 H ear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

Escuchad la instrucción y sed sabios, y no la menospreciéis.

34 B lessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.

Bienaventurado el hombre que me escucha, velando a mis puertas día a día, aguardando en los postes de mi entrada.

35 F or whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.

Porque el que me halla, halla la vida, y alcanza el favor del Señor.

36 B ut he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

Pero el que peca contra mí, a sí mismo se daña; todos los que me odian, aman la muerte.
