1 E l Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Preséntate ante el faraón. Yo he endurecido su corazón, y el corazón de sus siervos, para mostrarles a ellos estas señales mías,

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go in unto Pharaoh, for I have declared hard his heart, and the heart of his servants, so that I set these My signs in their midst,

2 y para que tú les cuentes a tus hijos y a tus nietos las señales que hice entre ellos en Egipto. Así sabrán que yo soy el Señor.»

and so that thou recountest in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, that which I have done in Egypt, and My signs which I have set among them, and ye have known that I Jehovah.'

3 M oisés y Aarón se presentaron ante el faraón, y le dijeron: «El Señor, el Dios de los hebreos, ha dicho: “¿Hasta cuándo te negarás a humillarte delante de mí? ¡Deja ir a mi pueblo, para que me sirva!

And Moses cometh in -- Aaron also -- unto Pharaoh, and they say unto him, `Thus said Jehovah, God of the Hebrews, Until when hast thou refused to be humbled at My presence? send My people away, and they serve Me,

4 S i insistes en no dejarlo ir, mañana mismo traeré langostas sobre tu territorio,

for if thou art refusing to send My people away, lo, I am bringing in to-morrow the locust into thy border,

5 y éstas cubrirán la superficie de la tierra, de tal modo que no podrá verse el suelo. Se comerán todo lo que el granizo no haya dañado, lo mismo que todos los árboles frutales del campo.

and it hath covered the eye of the land, and none is able to see the land, and it hath eaten the remnant of that which is escaped, which is left to you from the hail, and it hath eaten every tree which is springing for you out of the field;

6 L lenarán tus casas, y las casas de todos tus siervos, y las casas de todos los egipcios, como nunca antes lo vieron tus padres ni tus abuelos desde que nacieron hasta el día de hoy.”» Y dándose vuelta, Moisés salió de la presencia del faraón.

and they have filled thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians, which neither thy fathers nor thy father's fathers have seen, since the day of their being on the ground unto this day,' -- and he turneth and goeth out from Pharaoh.

7 E ntonces los siervos del faraón le dijeron: «¿Hasta cuándo este hombre será para nosotros una trampa? ¡Deja que esta gente se vaya y sirva al Señor su Dios! ¿Acaso no sabes todavía que Egipto se encuentra en ruinas?»

And the servants of Pharaoh say unto him, `Until when doth this become a snare to us? send the men away, and they serve Jehovah their God; knowest thou not yet that Egypt hath perished?'

8 E l faraón volvió a llamar a Moisés y Aarón, y les dijo: «Vayan y sirvan al Señor su Dios. ¿Quiénes son los que va a ir?»

And Moses is brought back -- Aaron also -- unto Pharaoh, and he saith unto them, `Go, serve Jehovah your God; -- who and who those going?'

9 M oisés respondió: «Tenemos que ir con nuestros niños y nuestros ancianos, con nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas, y con nuestras ovejas y nuestras vacas. Se trata de nuestra fiesta solemne para el Señor.»

And Moses saith, `With our young ones, and with our aged ones, we go, with our sons, and with our daughters, with our flock, and our herd, we go, for we have a festival to Jehovah.'

10 P ero el faraón les dijo: «¡Y claro, también el Señor va a ir con ustedes! ¿Cómo creen que voy a dejarlos ir, a ustedes y a sus niños? ¡Tengan cuidado, que les puede ir muy mal!

And he saith unto them, `Be it so, Jehovah with you when I send you and your infants away; see -- for evil before your faces;

11 P ues no será así. Vayan ahora ustedes los varones, y sirvan al Señor, ya que eso es lo que pidieron.» Y los echaron fuera de la presencia del faraón.

not so! go now, ye who men, and serve Jehovah, for that ye are seeking;' and casteth them out from the presence of Pharaoh.

12 E ntonces el Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Extiende tu mano sobre la tierra de Egipto, para que vengan las langostas y cubran todo el país, y acaben con todo lo que dejó el granizo.»

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Stretch out thy hand against the land of Egypt for the locust, and it goeth up against the land of Egypt, and doth eat every herb of the land -- all that the hail hath left.'

13 Y Moisés extendió su vara sobre la tierra de Egipto, y el Señor hizo que todo ese día y toda esa noche soplara sobre el país un viento del oriente; y cuando llegó la mañana, con ese viento del oriente llegaron las langostas.

And Moses stretcheth out his rod against the land of Egypt, and Jehovah hath led an east wind over the land all that day, and all the night; the morning hath been, and the east wind hath lifted up the locust.

14 Y se extendieron y se plantaron por todo Egipto. Vinieron en tal cantidad, que nunca antes sucedió algo así, ni sucederá después.

And the locust goeth up against all the land of Egypt, and resteth in all the border of Egypt -- very grievous: before it there hath not been such a locust as it, and after it there is none such;

15 D e tal manera cubrieron la superficie del país, que se oscureció la tierra. Arrasaron con toda la hierba del campo, y con todos los frutos que el granizo había dejado en los árboles. En toda la tierra de Egipto no quedó nada verde en los árboles ni en la hierba del campo.

and it covereth the eye of all the land, and the land is darkened; and it eateth every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail hath left, and there hath not been left any green thing in the trees, or in the herb of the field, in all the land of Egypt.'

16 E l faraón se apresuró a llamar a Moisés y a Aarón, y les dijo: «He pecado contra el Señor su Dios, y contra ustedes.

And Pharaoh hasteth to call for Moses and for Aaron, and saith, `I have sinned against Jehovah your God, and against you,

17 P ero les ruego que, sólo por esta vez, perdonen mi pecado y pidan al Señor su Dios que quite de mí al menos esta plaga mortal.»

and now, bear with, I pray you, my sin, only this time, and make ye supplication to Jehovah your God, that He turn aside from off me only this death.'

18 Y Moisés salió de la presencia del faraón, y oró al Señor.

And he goeth out from Pharaoh, and maketh supplication unto Jehovah,

19 E ntonces el Señor trajo de occidente un viento muy fuerte, y barrió con las langostas y las arrojó al Mar Rojo. ¡Ni una sola langosta quedó en todo Egipto!

and Jehovah turneth a very strong sea wind, and it lifteth up the locust, and bloweth it into the Red Sea -- there hath not been left one locust in all the border of Egypt;

20 P ero el Señor endureció el corazón del faraón, y éste no dejó ir a los hijos de Israel. La plaga de tinieblas

and Jehovah strengtheneth the heart of Pharaoh, and he hath not sent the sons of Israel away.

21 E l Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Extiende tu mano hacia el cielo, para que todo Egipto se cubra de tinieblas tan densas que hasta se puedan tocar.»

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Stretch out thy hand towards the heavens, and there is darkness over the land of Egypt, and the darkness is felt.'

22 Y Moisés extendió su mano hacia el cielo, y durante tres días todo Egipto se cubrió de densas tinieblas.

And Moses stretcheth out his hand towards the heavens, and there is darkness -- thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days;

23 E n esos tres días, nadie pudo ver a su vecino, ni nadie se movió de su sitio; en cambio, todos los hijos de Israel tenían luz en sus casas.

they have not seen one another, and none hath risen from his place three days; and to all the sons of Israel there hath been light in their dwellings.'

24 E ntonces el faraón mandó llamar a Moisés, y le dijo: «Vayan a servir al Señor, y lleven con ustedes a sus niños, con tal de que dejen aquí a sus ovejas y sus vacas.»

And Pharaoh calleth unto Moses and saith, `Go ye, serve Jehovah, only your flock and your herd are stayed, your infants also go with you;'

25 P ero Moisés respondió: «¡Pues hasta tú vas a darnos los animales que debemos ofrecer al Señor nuestro Dios como sacrificio y holocausto!

and Moses saith, `Thou also dost give in our hand sacrifices and burnt-offerings, and we have prepared for Jehovah our God;

26 T ambién nuestros ganados irán con nosotros. No se quedará aquí ni una sola pezuña, pues tenemos que tomar de nuestros animales para servir al Señor nuestro Dios, y no sabremos cómo debemos servirle hasta que lleguemos allá.»

and also our cattle doth go with us, there is not left a hoof, for from it we do take to serve Jehovah our God; and we -- we know not how we do serve Jehovah till our going thither.'

27 P ero el Señor endureció el corazón del faraón, y éste no quiso dejarlos ir;

And Jehovah strengtheneth the heart of Pharaoh, and he hath not been willing to send them away;

28 a l contrario, el faraón le dijo a Moisés: «¡Aléjate de mí! ¡Y ten cuidado de no volver a verme! Porque si algún día vuelves a verme, morirás.»

and Pharaoh saith to him, `Go from me, take heed to thyself, add not to see my face, for in the day thou seest my face thou diest;'

29 Y Moisés le respondió: «Tal y como lo has dicho, ¡nunca más volveré a verte!»

and Moses saith, `Rightly hast thou spoken, I add not any more to see thy face.'
