1 N el primo anno di Ciro, re di Persia, affinché si adempisse la parola dell'Eterno pronunciata per bocca di Geremia l'Eterno destò lo spirito di Ciro, re di Persia, perché facesse un editto per tutto il suo regno e lo mettesse per Iscritto dicendo:

Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

2 « Così dice Ciro, re di Persia: L'Eterno, il DIO dei cieli, mi ha dato tutti i regni della terra. Egli mi ha comandato di edificargli una casa a Gerusalemme, che è in Giuda.

Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath Jehovah, the God of heaven, given me; and he hath charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

3 C hi di voi appartiene al suo popolo? L'Eterno, il suo DIO, sia con lui, salga a Gerusalemme, che è in Giuda, e ricostruisca la casa dell'Eterno, DIO d'Israele, il DIO che è in Gerusalemme.

Whosoever there is among you of all his people, his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of Jehovah, the God of Israel (he is God), which is in Jerusalem.

4 L a gente di ciascun luogo, dove qualche sopravvissuto giudeo ancora risiede, lo fornisca d'argento, d'oro, di beni e di bestiame oltre alle offerte volontarie per la casa di DIO che è in Gerusalemme».

And whosoever is left, in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, besides the freewill-offering for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.

5 A llora i capifamiglia di Giuda e Beniamino, i sacerdoti e i Leviti, assieme a tutti quelli ai quali DIO aveva destato lo spirito, si levarono per andare a ricostruire la casa dell'Eterno che è in Gerusalemme.

Then rose up the heads of fathers' houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, even all whose spirit God had stirred to go up to build the house of Jehovah which is in Jerusalem.

6 T utti i loro vicini li aiutarono con oggetti d'argento, d'oro, con beni, con bestiame e con cose preziose oltre a tutte le offerte volontarie.

And all they that were round about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, besides all that was willingly offered.

7 A nche il re Ciro trasse fuori gli utensili della casa dell'Eterno che Nebukadnetsar aveva portato via da Gerusalemme e aveva posto nel tempio del suo dio.

Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of Jehovah, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put in the house of his gods;

8 C iro, re di Persia, li fece portar fuori per mezzo di Mithredath, il tesoriere, e li contò davanti a Sceshbatsar, principe di Giuda.

even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.

9 E ccone il numero: trenta bacinelle d'oro, mille bacinelle d'argento, ventinove coltelli,

And this is the number of them: thirty platters of gold, a thousand platters of silver, nine and twenty knives,

10 t renta coppe d'oro, quattrocentodieci coppe d'argento di second'ordine e mille altri utensili.

thirty bowls of gold, silver bowls of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.

11 T utti gli oggetti d'oro e d'argento erano in numero di cinquemilaquattrocento, Sceshbatsar li riportò tutti, assieme agli esuli che furono ricondotti da Babilonia a Gerusalemme.

All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up, when they of the captivity were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.
