1 A o homem pertencem os planos do coração; mas a resposta da língua é do Senhor.

The plans of the heart belong to man; But the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah.

2 T odos os caminhos do homem são limpos aos seus olhos; mas o Senhor pesa os espíritos.

All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; But Jehovah weigheth the spirits.

3 E ntrega ao Senhor as tuas obras, e teus desígnios serão estabelecidos.

Commit thy works unto Jehovah, And thy purposes shall be established.

4 O Senhor fez tudo para um fim; sim, até o ímpio para o dia do mal.

Jehovah hath made everything for its own end; Yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

5 T odo homem arrogante é abominação ao Senhor; certamente não ficará impune.

Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to Jehovah: Though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

6 P ela misericórdia e pela verdade expia-se a iniqüidade; e pelo temor do Senhor os homens se desviam do mal.

By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for; And by the fear of Jehovah men depart from evil.

7 Q uando os caminhos do homem agradam ao Senhor, faz que até os seus inimigos tenham paz com ele.

When a man's ways please Jehovah, He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

8 M elhor é o pouco com justiça, do que grandes rendas com injustiça.

Better is a little, with righteousness, Than great revenues with injustice.

9 O coração do homem propõe o seu caminho; mas o Senhor lhe dirige os passos.

A man's heart deviseth his way; But Jehovah directeth his steps.

10 N os lábios do rei acham-se oráculos; em juízo a sua boca não prevarica.

A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; His mouth shall not transgress in judgment.

11 O peso e a balança justos são do Senhor; obra sua são todos os pesos da bolsa.

A just balance and scales are Jehovah's; All the weights of the bag are his work.

12 A bominação é para os reis o praticarem a impiedade; porque com justiça se estabelece o trono.

It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; For the throne is established by righteousness.

13 L ábios justos são o prazer dos reis; e eles amam aquele que fala coisas retas.

Righteous lips are the delight of kings; And they love him that speaketh right.

14 O furor do rei é mensageiro da morte; mas o homem sábio o aplacará.

The wrath of a king is as messengers of death; But a wise man will pacify it.

15 N a luz do semblante do rei está a vida; e o seu favor é como a nuvem de chuva serôdia.

In the light of the king's countenance is life; And his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain.

16 Q uanto melhor é adquirir a sabedoria do que o ouro! e quanto mais excelente é escolher o entendimento do que a prata!

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.

17 A estrada dos retos desvia-se do mal; o que guarda o seu caminho preserva a sua vida.

The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: He that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

18 A soberba precede a destruição, e a altivez do espírito precede a queda.

Pride goeth before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

19 M elhor é ser humilde de espírito com os mansos, do que repartir o despojo com os soberbos.

Better it is to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.

20 O que atenta prudentemente para a palavra prosperará; e feliz é aquele que confia no Senhor.

He that giveth heed unto the word shall find good; And whoso trusteth in Jehovah, happy is he.

21 O sábio de coração será chamado prudente; e a doçura dos lábios aumenta o saber.

The wise in heart shall be called prudent; And the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

22 O entendimento, para aquele que o possui, é uma fonte de vida, porém a estultícia é o castigo dos insensatos.

Understanding is a well-spring of life unto him that hath it; But the correction of fools is their folly.

23 O coração do sábio instrui a sua boca, e aumenta o saber nos seus lábios.

The heart of the wise instructeth his mouth, And addeth learning to his lips.

24 P alavras suaves são como favos de mel, doçura para a alma e saúde para o corpo.

Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

25 H á um caminho que ao homem parece direito, mas o fim dele conduz ã morte.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death.

26 O apetite do trabalhador trabalha por ele, porque a sua fome o incita a isso.

The appetite of the laboring man laboreth for him; For his mouth urgeth him thereto.

27 O homem vil suscita o mal; e nos seus lábios há como que um fogo ardente.

A worthless man deviseth mischief; And in his lips there is as a scorching fire.

28 O homem perverso espalha contendas; e o difamador separa amigos íntimos.

A perverse man scattereth abroad strife; And a whisperer separateth chief friends.

29 O homem violento alicia o seu vizinho, e guia-o por um caminho que não é bom.

A man of violence enticeth his neighbor, And leadeth him in a way that is not good.

30 Q uando fecha os olhos fá-lo para maquinar perversidades; quando morde os lábios, efetua o mal.

He that shutteth his eyes, it is to devise perverse things: He that compresseth his lips bringeth evil to pass.

31 C oroa de honra são as cãs, a qual se obtém no caminho da justiça.

The hoary head is a crown of glory; It shall be found in the way of righteousness.

32 M elhor é o longânimo do que o valente; e o que domina o seu espírito do que o que toma uma cidade.

He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; And he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.

33 A sorte se lança no regaço; mas do Senhor procede toda a disposição dela.

The lot is cast into the lap; But the whole disposing thereof is of Jehovah.
