1 D avide riunì di nuovo tutti gli uomini scelti d’Israele, in numero di trentamila.

And David gathered again every chosen one in Israel, thirty thousand,

2 P oi si alzò, e con tutto il popolo che era con lui partì da Baalè di Giuda per trasportare di là l’arca di Dio, sulla quale è invocato il Nome, il nome del Signore degli eserciti, che siede sopra essa tra i cherubini.

and David riseth and goeth, and all the people who with him, from Baale-Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God, whose name hath been called -- the name of Jehovah of Hosts, inhabiting the cherubs -- upon it.

3 M isero l’arca di Dio sopra un carro nuovo e la portarono via dalla casa di Abinadab, che era sul colle; Uzza e Aio, figli di Abinadab, conducevano il carro nuovo

And they cause the ark of God to ride on a new cart, and lift it up from the house of Abinadab, which in the height, and Uzzah and Ahio sons of Abinadab are leading the new cart;

4 c on l’arca di Dio, e Aio precedeva l’arca.

and they lift it up from the house of Abinadab, which in the height, with the ark of God, and Ahio is going before the ark,

5 D avide e tutta la casa d’Israele suonavano davanti al Signore ogni sorta di strumenti di legno di cipresso, e cetre, saltèri, timpani, sistri e cembali.

and David and all the house of Israel are playing before Jehovah, with all kinds of of fir-wood, even with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cornets, and with cymbals.

6 Q uando giunsero all’aia di Nacon, Uzza stese la mano verso l’arca di Dio per reggerla, perché i buoi la facevano inclinare.

And they come unto the threshing-floor of Nachon, and Uzzah putteth forth unto the ark of God, and layeth hold on it, for they released the oxen;

7 L ’ira del Signore si accese contro Uzza; Dio lo colpì lì per la sua empietà ed egli morì in quel luogo vicino all’arca di Dio.

and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Uzzah, and God smiteth him there for the error, and he dieth there by the ark of God.

8 D avide si rattristò perché il Signore aveva fatto una breccia nel popolo, colpendo Uzza; quel luogo è stato chiamato fino ad oggi Perez-Uzza.

And it is displeasing to David, because that Jehovah hath broken forth a breach upon Uzzah, and calleth that place Perez-Uzzah, unto this day;

9 D avide, in quel giorno, ebbe paura del Signore e disse: «Come potrebbe venire da me l’arca del Signore ?»

and David feareth Jehovah on that day, and saith, `How doth the ark of Jehovah come in unto me?'

10 D avide non volle prendere l’arca del Signore presso di sé nella città di Davide, ma la fece portare in casa di Obed-Edom a Gat.

And David hath not been willing to turn aside unto himself the ark of Jehovah, to the city of David, and David turneth it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite,

11 L ’arca del Signore rimase tre mesi in casa di Obed-Edom a Gat, e il Signore benedisse Obed-Edom e tutta la sua casa.

and the ark of Jehovah doth inhabit the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months, and Jehovah blesseth Obed-Edom and all his house.

12 A llora fu detto al re Davide: «Il Signore ha benedetto la casa di Obed-Edom e tutto quel che gli appartiene, a motivo dell’arca di Dio». Allora Davide andò e trasportò l’arca di Dio dalla casa di Obed-Edom su nella città di Davide con gioia.

And it is declared to king David, saying, `Jehovah hath blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he hath, because of the ark of God;' and David goeth and bringeth up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the city of David with joy.

13 Q uando quelli che portavano l’arca del Signore ebbero fatto sei passi, egli immolò un bue e un vitello grasso.

And it cometh to pass, when those bearing the ark of Jehovah have stepped six steps, that he sacrificeth an ox and a fatling.

14 D avide era cinto di un efod di lino e danzava a tutta forza davanti al Signore.

And David is dancing with all strength before Jehovah, and David is girded with a linen ephod,

15 C osì Davide e tutta la casa d’Israele trasportarono su l’arca del Signore con gioia e a suon di tromba.

and David and all the house of Israel are bringing up the ark of Jehovah with shouting, and with the voice of a trumpet,

16 M entre l’arca del Signore entrava nella città di Davide, Mical, figlia di Saul, guardò dalla finestra; e vedendo il re Davide che saltava e danzava davanti al Signore, lo disprezzò in cuor suo.

and it hath come to pass, the ark of Jehovah hath come in to the city of David, and Michal daughter of Saul, hath looked through the window, and seeth king David moving and dancing before Jehovah, and despiseth him in her heart.

17 P ortarono dunque l’arca del Signore e la collocarono al suo posto, in mezzo alla tenda che Davide le aveva montato; e Davide offrì olocausti e sacrifici di riconoscenza davanti al Signore.

And they bring in the ark of Jehovah, and set it up in its place, in the midst of the tent which David hath spread out for it, and David causeth to ascend burnt-offerings before Jehovah, and peace-offerings.

18 Q uando ebbe finito di offrire gli olocausti e i sacrifici di riconoscenza, Davide benedisse il popolo nel nome del Signore degli eserciti

And David finisheth from causing to ascend the burnt-offering, and the peace-offerings, and blesseth the people in the name of Jehovah of Hosts,

19 e distribuì a tutto il popolo, a tutta la moltitudine d’Israele, uomini e donne, un pane per uno, una porzione di carne e un grappolo di uva passa. Poi tutto il popolo se ne andò, ciascuno a casa sua.

and he apportioneth to all the people, to all the multitude of Israel, from man even unto woman, to each, one cake of bread, and one eshpar, and one ashisha, and all the people go, each to his house.

20 C ome Davide tornava per benedire la sua famiglia, Mical, figlia di Saul, gli andò incontro e gli disse: «Bell’onore si è fatto oggi il re d’Israele a scoprirsi davanti agli occhi delle serve dei suoi servi, come si scoprirebbe un uomo da nulla!»

And David turneth back to bless his house, and Michal daughter of Saul goeth out to meet David, and saith, `How honourable to-day was the king of Israel, who was uncovered to-day before the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain ones is openly uncovered!'

21 D avide rispose a Mical: «L’ho fatto davanti al Signore che mi ha scelto invece di tuo padre e di tutta la sua casa per stabilirmi principe d’Israele, del popolo del Signore; sì, davanti al Signore ho fatto festa.

And David saith unto Michal, `-- Before Jehovah, who fixed on me above thy father, and above all his house, to appoint me leader over the people of Jehovah, and over Israel, -- yea, I played before Jehovah;

22 A nzi mi abbasserò anche più di così e mi renderò umile ai miei occhi; ma da quelle serve di cui parli, proprio da loro, sarò onorato!»

and I have been more vile than this, and have been low in mine eyes, and with the handmaids whom thou hast spoken of, with them I am honoured.'

23 E Mical, figlia di Saul, non ebbe figli fino al giorno della sua morte.

As to Michal daughter of Saul, she had no child till the day of her death.
