1 S i hay pleito entre dos hombres y van a la corte, y los jueces deciden el caso, y absuelven al justo y condenan al culpable,

If there be a controversy between men, and they resort to judgment, and they judge; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

2 s ucederá que si el culpable merece ser azotado, entonces el juez le hará tenderse, y será azotado en su presencia con el número de azotes de acuerdo con su culpa.

And it shall be if the wicked man have deserved to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and be beaten before his face, according to the measure of his wickedness with a certain number.

3 P uede darle cuarenta azotes, pero no más, no sea que le dé muchos más azotes que éstos, y tu hermano quede degradado ante tus ojos.

With forty shall they beat him; they shall not exceed, lest, if they continue to beat him with many stripes above these, thy brother become despicable in thine eyes.

4 N o pondrás bozal al buey mientras trilla. Deberes para con la viuda del hermano

Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out.

5 C uando dos hermanos habitan juntos y uno de ellos muere y no tiene hijo, la mujer del fallecido no se casará fuera de la familia con un extraño. El cuñado se allegará a ella y la tomará para sí como mujer, y cumplirá con ella su deber de cuñado.

If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no son, the wife of the dead shall not marry a stranger abroad: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him as wife, and perform the duty of a husband's brother unto her.

6 Y será que el primogénito que ella dé a luz llevará el nombre de su hermano difunto, para que su nombre no sea borrado de Israel.

And it shall be, that the firstborn that she beareth shall stand in the name of his brother who is dead, that his name be not blotted out from Israel.

7 P ero si el hombre no quiere tomar a su cuñada, entonces su cuñada irá a la puerta, a los ancianos, y dirá: “Mi cuñado se niega a establecer un nombre para su hermano en Israel; no quiere cumplir para conmigo su deber de cuñado.”

But if the man like not to take his brother's wife, his brother's wife shall go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband's brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel: he will not perform for me the duty of a husband's brother.

8 E ntonces los ancianos de su ciudad lo llamarán y le hablarán. Y si él persiste y dice: “No deseo tomarla”,

Then the elders of his city shall call him and speak unto him; and if he stand to it and say, I like not to take her;

9 e ntonces su cuñada vendrá a él a la vista de los ancianos, le quitará la sandalia de su pie y le escupirá en la cara; y ella declarará: “Así se hace al hombre que no quiere edificar la casa de su hermano.”

then shall his brother's wife come near to him before the eyes of the elders, and draw his sandal from his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto the man that will not build up his brother's house.

10 Y en Israel se le llamará: “La casa del de la sandalia quitada.” Leyes diversas

And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe drawn off.

11 S i dos hombres luchan entre sí, un hombre y su conciudadano, y la mujer de uno se acerca para librar a su marido de la mano del que lo golpea, y ella extiende su mano y le agarra sus partes vergonzosas,

When men fight together one with another, and the wife of the one come near to rescue her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and stretch out her hand, and seize him by his secret parts,

12 e ntonces le cortarás su mano; no tendrás piedad.

thou shalt cut off her hand; thine eye shall not spare.

13 N o tendrás en tu bolsa pesas diferentes, una grande y una pequeña.

Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.

14 N o tendrás en tu casa medidas diferentes, una grande y una pequeña.

Thou shalt not have in thy house divers ephahs, a great and a small.

15 T endrás peso completo y justo; tendrás medida completa y justa, para que se prolonguen tus días en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da.

A perfect and just weight shalt thou have; a perfect and just ephah shalt thou have; that thy days may be prolonged in the land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee.

16 P orque todo el que hace estas cosas, todo el que comete injusticia, es abominación para el Señor tu Dios.

For every one that doeth such things, every one that doeth unrighteousness, is an abomination to Jehovah thy God.

17 A cuérdate de lo que te hizo Amalec en el camino cuando saliste de Egipto,

Remember what Amalek did unto thee on the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt;

18 c ómo te salió al encuentro en el camino, y atacó entre los tuyos a todos los agotados en tu retaguardia cuando tú estabas fatigado y cansado; y él no temió a Dios.

how he met thee on the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, all the feeble that lagged behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary, and he feared not God.

19 P or tanto, sucederá que cuando el Señor tu Dios te haya dado descanso de todos tus enemigos alrededor, en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da en heredad para poseerla, borrarás de debajo del cielo la memoria de Amalec; no lo olvides.

And it shall be, when Jehovah thy God shall have given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land that Jehovah thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under the heavens; thou shalt not forget it.
