1 N ow these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men, his helpers in war.

8 A nd of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David to the stronghold in the wilderness, mighty men of valor, men trained for war, that could handle shield and spear; whose faces were like the faces of lions, and they were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;

También de los de Gad huyeron y fueron adonde estaba David, al lugar fuerte en el desierto, hombres de guerra muy valientes para pelear, diestros con el escudo y la lanza; sus rostros eran como rostros de leones, y eran ligeros como las gacelas sobre las montañas.

14 T hese of the sons of Gad were captains of the host: he that was least was equal to a hundred, and the greatest to a thousand.

Éstos fueron capitanes del ejército de los hijos de Gad. El menor estaba a cargo de cien hombres, y el mayor, de mil.

15 T hese are they that went over the Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed all its banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west.

Estos pasaron el Jordán en el mes primero, cuando se había desbordado por todas sus riberas; e hicieron huir a todos los habitantes de los valles al oriente y al occidente.

16 A nd there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the stronghold unto David.

Asimismo algunos de los hijos de Benjamín y de Judá fueron ante David al lugar fuerte.

17 A nd David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, my heart shall be knit unto you; but if ye be come to betray me to mine adversaries, seeing there is no wrong in my hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

David salió a su encuentro y les habló diciendo: —Si habéis venido a mí en son de paz y para ayudarme, me uniré a vosotros; pero si es para entregarme a mis enemigos, sin que mis manos estén manchadas de maldad, véalo el Dios de nuestros padres, y os lo demande.

18 T hen the Spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the thirty, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thy helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

Entonces el espíritu vino sobre Amasai, jefe de los treinta, y dijo: «¡Somos tuyos, David! ¡Estamos contigo, hijo de Isaí! ¡Paz, paz para ti, y paz para quienes te ayudan, pues también tu Dios te ayuda!» David los recibió y los puso entre los capitanes de la tropa.

19 O f Manasseh also there fell away some to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not; for the lords of the Philistines upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall away to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.

También se pasaron a David algunos de Manasés, cuando fue con los filisteos a la batalla contra Saúl (pero David no los ayudó, porque los jefes de los filisteos, tras deliberar, lo despidieron diciendo: «Con peligro de nuestras cabezas se pasará a su señor Saúl.»)

20 A s he went to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zillethai, captains of thousands that were of Manasseh.

Así que cuando volvió él a Siclag, se pasaron a él de los de Manasés: Adnas, Jozabad, Jediael, Micael, Jozabad, Eliú y Ziletai, príncipes de millares de los de Manasés.

21 A nd they helped David against the band of rovers: for they were all mighty men of valor, and were captains in the host.

Estos ayudaron a David contra la banda de merodeadores, pues todos ellos eran hombres valientes, y fueron capitanes en el ejército.

22 F or from day to day men came to David to help him, until there was a great host, like the host of God.

Cada día le llegaba ayuda a David, hasta que se formó un gran ejército, como un ejército de Dios.

23 A nd these are the numbers of the heads of them that were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of Jehovah.

Éste es el número de los principales que estaban listos para la guerra, y llegaron a David en Hebrón para traspasarle el reino de Saúl, conforme a la palabra de Jehová:

24 T he children of Judah that bare shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, armed for war.

De los hijos de Judá que traían escudo y lanza, seis mil ochocientos estaban listos para la guerra.

25 O f the children of Simeon, mighty men of valor for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.

De los hijos de Simeón, siete mil cien hombres, valientes y esforzados para la guerra.

26 O f the children of Levi four thousand and six hundred.

De los hijos de Leví, cuatro mil seiscientos;

27 A nd Jehoiada was the leader of the house of Aaron; and with him were three thousand and seven hundred,

asimismo Joiada, príncipe de los del linaje de Aarón, y con él tres mil setecientos hombres,

28 a nd Zadok, a young man mighty of valor, and of his father's house twenty and two captains.

y Sadoc, joven valiente y esforzado, con veintidós de los principales de la casa de su padre.

29 A nd of the children of Benjamin, the brethren of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept their allegiance to the house of Saul.

De los hijos de Benjamín, hermanos de Saúl, tres mil; porque hasta entonces muchos de ellos se mantenían fieles a la casa de Saúl.

30 A nd of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathers' houses.

De los hijos de Efraín, veinte mil ochocientos, muy valientes, hombres ilustres en las casas de sus padres.

31 A nd of the half-tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, who were mentioned by name, to come and make David king.

De la media tribu de Manasés, dieciocho mil, los cuales fueron designados para ir a proclamar a David como rey.

32 A nd of the children of Issachar, men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

33 O f Zebulun, such as were able to go out in the host, that could set the battle in array, with all manner of instruments of war, fifty thousand, and that could order the battle array, and were not of double heart.

De Zabulón, cincuenta mil, que salían a la campaña prontos para la guerra, con toda clase de armas de guerra y dispuestos a pelear sin doblez de corazón.

34 A nd of Naphtali a thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty and seven thousand.

De Neftalí, mil capitanes, y con ellos treinta y siete mil con escudo y lanza.

35 A nd of the Danites that could set the battle in array, twenty and eight thousand and six hundred.

De los de Dan, dispuestos a pelear, veintiocho mil seiscientos.

36 A nd of Asher, such as were able to go out in the host, that could set the battle in array, forty thousand.

De Aser, dispuestos para la guerra y preparados para pelear, cuarenta mil.

37 A nd on the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half-tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, a hundred and twenty thousand.

Y del otro lado del Jordán, de los rubenitas y gaditas y de la media tribu de Manasés, ciento veinte mil con toda clase de armas de guerra.

38 A ll these being men of war, that could order the battle array, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

Todos estos hombres de guerra, dispuestos para guerrear, fueron con corazón perfecto a Hebrón, para poner a David como rey sobre todo Israel; asimismo todos los demás de Israel estaban de acuerdo en poner a David como rey.

39 A nd they were there with David three days, eating and drinking; for their brethren had made preparation for them.

Y estuvieron allí con David tres días comiendo y bebiendo, porque sus hermanos habían provisto para ellos.

40 M oreover they that were nigh unto them, even as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, victuals of meal, cakes of figs, and clusters of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep in abundance: for there was joy in Israel.

También los que les eran vecinos, hasta Isacar y Zabulón y Neftalí, trajeron víveres en asnos, camellos, mulos y bueyes; provisión de harina, tortas de higos, pasas, vino y aceite, y bueyes y ovejas en abundancia, porque en Israel había alegría.
