Now these are the priests and Levites who went up with Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and with Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

2 A maria, Malluc, Hattusch,

Amariah, Malluch, Hattush,

3 S checania, Rehum, Merémoth,

Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,

4 I ddo, Guinnethoï, Abija,

Iddo, Ginnethoi, Abijah,

5 M ijamin, Maadia, Bilga,

Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah,

6 S chemaeja, Jojarib, Jedaeja,

Shemaiah, Joiarib, Jedaiah,

7 S allu, Amok, Hilkija, Jedaeja. Ce furent là les chefs des sacrificateurs et de leurs frères, au temps de Josué. -

Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, and Jedaiah. These were the chiefs of the priests and their brethren in the days of Jeshua.

8 L évites: Josué, Binnuï, Kadmiel, Schérébia, Juda, Matthania, qui dirigeait avec ses frères le chant des louanges;

And the Levites were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who, with his brethren, was over the thanksgiving.

9 B akbukia et Unni, qui remplissaient leurs fonctions auprès de leurs frères.

Bakbukiah and Unni, their brethren, stood opposite them according to their offices.

10 J osué engendra Jojakim, Jojakim engendra Éliaschib, Éliaschib engendra Jojada,

And Jeshua was the father of Joiakim, Joiakim of Eliashib, Eliashib of Joiada,

11 J ojada engendra Jonathan, et Jonathan engendra Jaddua.

Joiada was the father of Jonathan, and Jonathan of Jaddua.

12 V oici, au temps de Jojakim, quels étaient les sacrificateurs, chefs de famille: pour Seraja, Meraja; pour Jérémie, Hanania;

And in the days of Joiakim were priests, heads of fathers’ houses: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;

13 p our Esdras, Meschullam; pour Amaria, Jochanan;

Of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan;

14 p our Meluki, Jonathan; pour Schebania, Joseph;

Of Malluchi, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph;

15 p our Harim, Adna; pour Merajoth, Helkaï;

Of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai;

16 p our Iddo, Zacharie; pour Guinnethon, Meschullam;

Of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;

17 p our Abija, Zicri; pour Minjamin et Moadia, Pilthaï;

Of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin and of Moadiah, Piltai;

18 p our Bilga, Schammua; pour Schemaeja, Jonathan;

Of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;

19 p our Jojarib, Matthnaï; pour Jedaeja, Uzzi;

Of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;

20 p our Sallaï, Kallaï; pour Amok, Éber;

Of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;

21 p our Hilkija, Haschabia; pour Jedaeja, Nethaneel.

Of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethanel.

22 A u temps d'Éliaschib, de Jojada, de Jochanan et de Jaddua, les Lévites, chefs de familles, et les sacrificateurs, furent inscrits, sous le règne de Darius, le Perse.

As for the Levites in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, Johanan, and Jaddua, the heads of fathers’ houses were recorded, as well as the priests, until the reign of Darius the Persian.

23 L es fils de Lévi, chefs de familles, furent inscrits dans le livre des Chroniques jusqu'au temps de Jochanan, fils d'Éliaschib.

The sons of Levi, heads of fathers’ houses, were recorded in the Book of the Chronicles until the days of Johanan son of Eliashib.

24 L es chefs des Lévites, Haschabia, Schérébia, et Josué, fils de Kadmiel, et leurs frères avec eux, les uns vis-à-vis des autres, étaient chargés de célébrer et de louer l'Éternel, selon l'ordre de David, homme de Dieu.

And the chiefs of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua son of Kadmiel, with their brethren opposite them, to praise and to give thanks, as David, God’s man, commanded, watch in response to watch.

25 M atthania, Bakbukia, Abdias, Meschullam, Thalmon et Akkub, portiers, faisaient la garde aux seuils des portes.

Mattaniah, Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, and Akkub were gatekeepers guarding at the storehouses of the gates.

26 I ls vivaient au temps de Jojakim, fils de Josué, fils de Jotsadak, et au temps de Néhémie, le gouverneur, et d'Esdras, le sacrificateur et le scribe.

These were in the days of Joiakim son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor and of Ezra the priest and scribe.

27 L ors de la dédicace des murailles de Jérusalem, on appela les Lévites de tous les lieux qu'ils habitaient et on les fit venir à Jérusalem, afin de célébrer la dédicace et la fête par des louanges et par des chants, au son des cymbales, des luths et des harpes.

And for the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, they sought the Levites in all their places to bring them to Jerusalem to celebrate the dedication with gladness, with thanksgivings, and with singing, cymbals, harps, and lyres.

28 L es fils des chantres se rassemblèrent des environs de Jérusalem, des villages des Nethophatiens,

And the sons of the singers gathered together from the plain and circuit around Jerusalem and from the villages of the Netophathites,

29 d e Beth Guilgal, et du territoire de Guéba et d'Azmaveth; car les chantres s'étaient bâti des villages aux alentours de Jérusalem.

And also from Beth-gilgal and the fields of Geba and Azmaveth, for the singers had built for themselves villages around Jerusalem.

30 L es sacrificateurs et les Lévites se purifièrent, et ils purifièrent le peuple, les portes et la muraille.

And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, the people, the gates, and the wall.

31 J e fis monter sur la muraille les chefs de Juda, et je formai deux grands choeurs. Le premier se mit en marche du côté droit sur la muraille, vers la porte du fumier.

Then I brought the princes of Judah up on the wall, and I appointed two great companies of them who gave thanks and went in procession. One went to the right upon the wall toward the Dung Gate.

32 D errière ce choeur marchaient Hosée et la moitié des chefs de Juda,

And after them went Hoshaiah and half of the princes of Judah,

33 A zaria, Esdras, Meschullam,

And Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam,

34 J uda, Benjamin, Schemaeja et Jérémie,

Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, and Jeremiah,

35 d es fils de sacrificateurs avec des trompettes, Zacharie, fils de Jonathan, fils de Schemaeja, fils de Matthania, fils de Michée, fils de Zaccur, fils d'Asaph,

And certain of the priests’ sons with trumpets, and Zechariah son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph,

36 e t ses frères, Schemaeja, Azareel, Milalaï, Guilalaï, Maaï, Nethaneel, Juda et Hanani, avec les instruments de musique de David, homme de Dieu. Esdras, le scribe, était à leur tête.

And his kinsmen—Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, Hanani—with the musical instruments of David, God’s man. And Ezra the scribe went before them.

37 A la porte de la source, ils montèrent vis-à-vis d'eux les degrés de la cité de David par la montée de la muraille, au-dessus de la maison de David, jusqu'à la porte des eaux, vers l'orient.

At the Fountain Gate they went up straight ahead by the stairs of the City of David at the wall’s ascent above David’s house to the Water Gate on the east.

38 L e second choeur se mit en marche à l'opposite. J'étais derrière lui avec l'autre moitié du peuple, sur la muraille. Passant au-dessus de la tour des fours, on alla jusqu'à la muraille large;

The other company of those who gave thanks went to the left; I followed with half of the people upon the wall, above the Tower of the Furnaces to the Broad Wall,

39 p uis au-dessus de la porte d'Éphraïm, de la vieille porte, de la porte des poissons, de la tour de Hananeel et de la tour de Méa, jusqu'à la porte des brebis. Et l'on s'arrêta à la porte de la prison.

And above the Gate of Ephraim, and by the Old Gate and by the Fish Gate and by the Tower of Hananel and the Tower of Hammeah, even to the Sheep Gate; and they stopped at the Gate of the Guard.

40 L es deux choeurs s'arrêtèrent dans la maison de Dieu; et nous fîmes de même, moi et les magistrats qui étaient avec moi,

So the two companies of those who gave thanks stood in the house of God, and I, and the half of the officials with me;

41 e t les sacrificateurs Éliakim, Maaséja, Minjamin, Michée, Eljoénaï, Zacharie, Hanania, avec des trompettes,

And the priests Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;

42 e t Maaséja, Schemaeja, Éléazar, Uzzi, Jochanan, Malkija, Élam et Ézer. Les chantres se firent entendre, dirigés par Jizrachja.

And Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang and made themselves heard, with Jezrahiah as leader.

43 O n offrit ce jour-là de nombreux sacrifices, et on se livra aux réjouissances, car Dieu avait donné au peuple un grand sujet de joie. Les femmes et les enfants se réjouirent aussi, et les cris de joie de Jérusalem furent entendus au loin.

Also that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women also and the children rejoiced. The joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.

44 E n ce jour, on établit des hommes ayant la surveillance des chambres qui servaient de magasins pour les offrandes, les prémices et les dîmes, et on les chargea d'y recueillir du territoire des villes les portions assignées par la loi aux sacrificateurs et aux Lévites. Car Juda se réjouissait de ce que les sacrificateurs et les Lévites étaient à leur poste,

On that day men were appointed over the chambers for the stores, the contributions, the firstfruits, and the tithes, to gather into them the portions required by law for the priests and the Levites according to the fields of the towns, for Judah rejoiced over the priests and Levites who served.

45 o bservant tout ce qui concernait le service de Dieu et des purifications. Les chantres et les portiers remplissaient aussi leurs fonctions, selon l'ordre de David et de Salomon, son fils;

And they performed the due service of their God and of the purification; so did the singers and gatekeepers, as David and his son Solomon had commanded.

46 c ar autrefois, du temps de David et d'Asaph, il y avait des chefs de chantres et des chants de louanges et d'actions de grâces en l'honneur de Dieu.

For in the days of David and Asaph of old, there was a chief of singers and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God.

47 T out Israël, au temps de Zorobabel et de Néhémie, donna les portions des chantres et des portiers, jour par jour; on donna aux Lévites les choses consacrées, et les Lévites donnèrent aux fils d'Aaron les choses consacrées.

And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and of Nehemiah gave the daily portions for the singers and the gatekeepers; and they set apart what was for the Levites, and the Levites set apart what was for the sons of Aaron.
