1 H izo David también casas para sí en la Ciudad de David, y arregló un lugar para el Arca de Dios, y le levantó una tienda.

David made himself houses in David’s city; and he prepared a place for God’s ark, and pitched a tent for it.

2 E ntonces dijo David: «El Arca de Dios no debe ser llevada sino por los levitas; porque a ellos ha elegido Jehová para que lleven el Arca de Jehová, y le sirvan perpetuamente.»

Then David said, “No one ought to carry God’s ark but the Levites. For Yahweh has chosen them to carry God’s ark, and to minister to him forever.”

3 C ongregó, pues, David a todo Israel en Jerusalén, para que llevaran el Arca de Jehová al lugar que él le había preparado.

David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up Yahweh’s ark to its place, which he had prepared for it.

4 R eunió también David a los hijos de Aarón y a los levitas;

David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:

5 d e los hijos de Coat, a Uriel, el jefe, y sus hermanos, ciento veinte.

of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, and his brothers one hundred twenty;

6 D e los hijos de Merari, a Asaías, el jefe, y sus hermanos, doscientos veinte.

of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred twenty;

7 D e los hijos de Gersón, a Joel, el jefe, y sus hermanos, ciento treinta.

of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, and his brothers one hundred thirty;

8 D e los hijos de Elizafán, a Semaías, el jefe, y sus hermanos, doscientos.

of the sons of Elizaphan, Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred;

9 D e los hijos de Hebrón, a Eliel, el jefe, y sus hermanos, ochenta.

of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, and his brothers eighty;

10 D e los hijos de Uziel, a Aminadab, el jefe, y sus hermanos, ciento doce.

of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, and his brothers one hundred twelve.

11 L uego llamó David a los sacerdotes Sadoc y Abiatar, y a los levitas Uriel, Asaías, Joel, Semaías, Eliel y Aminadab,

David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab,

12 y les dijo: «Vosotros, que sois los principales padres de las familias de los levitas, santificaos, vosotros y vuestros hermanos, y llevad el Arca de Jehová, Dios de Israel, al lugar que le he preparado;

and said to them, “You are the heads of the fathers’ households of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel, up to the place that I have prepared for it.

13 p ues por no haberlo hecho así vosotros la primera vez, Jehová, nuestro Dios, nos quebrantó, por cuanto no le buscamos según su ordenanza.»

For because you didn’t carry it at first, Yahweh our God broke out in anger against us, because we didn’t seek him according to the ordinance.”

14 S e santificaron, pues, los sacerdotes y los levitas para traer el Arca de Jehová, Dios de Israel.

So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of Yahweh, the God of Israel.

15 Y los hijos de los levitas trajeron el Arca de Dios puesta sobre sus hombros en las barras, como lo había mandado Moisés, conforme a la palabra de Jehová.

The children of the Levites bore God’s ark on their shoulders with its poles, as Moses commanded according to Yahweh’s word.

16 A simismo dijo David a los principales de los levitas que designaran a cantores entre sus hermanos, con instrumentos de música, con salterios, arpas y címbalos, para que los hicieran resonar con alegría.

David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers with instruments of music, stringed instruments, harps, and cymbals, sounding aloud and lifting up their voices with joy.

17 E ntonces los levitas designaron a Hemán hijo de Joel; y de sus hermanos, a Asaf hijo de Berequías; y de los hijos de Merari y de sus hermanos, a Etán hijo de Cusaías.

So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;

18 Y con ellos a sus hermanos del segundo orden, a Zacarías, Jaaziel, Semiramot, Jehiel, Uni, Eliab, Benaía, Maasías, Matatías, Elifelehu, Micnías, Obed-edom y Jeiel, los porteros.

and with them their brothers of the second rank, Zechariah, Ben, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, the doorkeepers.

19 A sí, Hemán, Asaf y Etán, que eran cantores, tocaban címbalos de bronce.

So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were given cymbals of brass to sound aloud;

20 Z acarías, Aziel, Semiramot, Jehiel, Uni, Eliab, Maasías y Benaía tenían salterios sobre Alamot.

and Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with stringed instruments set to Alamoth;

21 M atatías, Elifelehu, Micnías, Obed-edom, Jeiel y Azazías, tenían arpas afinadas en la octava para dirigir.

and Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps tuned to the eight-stringed lyre, to lead.

22 Y Quenanías, jefe de los levitas en la música, fue puesto para dirigir el canto, porque era entendido en ello.

Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was over the singing. He taught the singers, because he was skillful.

23 B erequías y Elcana eran porteros del Arca.

Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark.

24 S ebanías, Josafat, Natanael, Amasai, Zacarías, Benaía y Eliezer, sacerdotes, tocaban las trompetas delante del Arca de Dios; Obed-edom y Jehías eran también porteros del Arca.

Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before God’s ark; and Obed-Edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

25 D avid, pues, junto a los ancianos de Israel y los capitanes de millares, fueron a traer el Arca del pacto de Jehová, de casa de Obed-edom, con alegría.

So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring the ark of Yahweh’s covenant up out of the house of Obed-Edom with joy.

26 C omo Dios ayudó a los levitas que llevaban el Arca del pacto de Jehová, sacrificaron siete novillos y siete carneros.

When God helped the Levites who bore the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.

27 I ba David vestido de lino fino, y también todos los levitas que llevaban el Arca, y asimismo los cantores; y Quenanías era maestro de canto entre los cantores. Llevaba también David sobre sí un efod de lino.

David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the choir master with the singers; and David had an ephod of linen on him.

28 D e esta manera llevaba todo Israel el Arca del pacto de Jehová, con júbilo y sonido de bocinas, trompetas y címbalos, al son de salterios y arpas.

Thus all Israel brought the ark of Yahweh’s covenant up with shouting, with sound of the cornet, with trumpets, and with cymbals, sounding aloud with stringed instruments and harps.

29 C uando el Arca del pacto de Jehová llegó a la Ciudad de David, Mical, hija de Saúl, estaba mirando por una ventana; al ver al rey David que saltaba y danzaba, lo menospreció en su corazón.

As the ark of Yahweh’s covenant came to David’s city, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out at the window, and saw king David dancing and playing; and she despised him in her heart.
