1 E ntonces, ¿qué diremos? ¿Seguiremos pecando, para que la gracia abunde?

What then shall we say? Should we continue in sin that grace may abound?

2 ¡ De ninguna manera! Porque los que hemos muerto al pecado, ¿cómo podemos seguir viviendo en él?

Far be the thought. We who have died to sin, how shall we still live in it?

3 ¿ No saben ustedes que todos los que fuimos bautizados en Cristo Jesús, fuimos bautizados en su muerte?

Are you ignorant that we, as many as have been baptised unto Christ Jesus, have been baptised unto his death?

4 P orque por el bautismo fuimos sepultados con él en su muerte, para que así como Cristo resucitó de los muertos por la gloria del Padre, así también nosotros vivamos una vida nueva.

We have been buried therefore with him by baptism unto death, in order that, even as Christ has been raised up from among dead by the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 P orque si nos hemos unido a Cristo en su muerte, así también nos uniremos a él en su resurrección.

For if we are become identified with in the likeness of his death, so also we shall be of resurrection;

6 S abemos que nuestro antiguo yo fue crucificado juntamente con él, para que el cuerpo del pecado sea destruido, a fin de que no sirvamos más al pecado.

knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with, that the body of sin might be annulled, that we should no longer serve sin.

7 P orque el que ha muerto, ha sido liberado del pecado.

For he that has died is justified from sin.

8 A sí que, si morimos con Cristo, creemos que también viviremos con él.

Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him,

9 S abemos que Cristo resucitó y que no volverá a morir, pues la muerte ya no tiene poder sobre él.

knowing that Christ having been raised up from among dead dies no more: death has dominion over him no more.

10 P orque en cuanto a su muerte, murió al pecado de una vez y para siempre; pero en cuanto a su vida, vive para Dios.

For in that he has died, he has died to sin once for all; but in that he lives, he lives to God.

11 A sí también ustedes, considérense muertos al pecado pero vivos para Dios en Cristo Jesús, nuestro Señor.

So also ye, reckon yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

12 P or lo tanto, no permitan ustedes que el pecado reine en su cuerpo mortal, ni lo obedezcan en sus malos deseos.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body to obey its lusts.

13 T ampoco presenten sus miembros al pecado como instrumentos de iniquidad, sino preséntense ustedes mismos a Dios como vivos de entre los muertos, y presenten sus miembros a Dios como instrumentos de justicia.

Neither yield your members instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but yield yourselves to God as alive from among dead, and your members instruments of righteousness to God.

14 E l pecado ya no tendrá poder sobre ustedes, pues ya no están bajo la ley sino bajo la gracia. Siervos de la justicia

For sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye are not under law but under grace.

15 ¿ Entonces, qué? ¿Pecaremos porque no estamos bajo la ley sino bajo la gracia? ¡De ninguna manera!

What then? should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Far be the thought.

16 ¿ Acaso no saben ustedes que, si se someten a alguien para obedecerlo como esclavos, se hacen esclavos de aquel a quien obedecen, ya sea del pecado que lleva a la muerte, o de la obediencia que lleva a la justicia?

Know ye not that to whom ye yield yourselves bondmen for obedience, ye are bondmen to him whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

17 P ero gracias a Dios que, aunque ustedes eran esclavos del pecado, han obedecido de corazón al modelo de enseñanza que han recibido,

But thanks to God, that ye were bondmen of sin, but have obeyed from the heart the form of teaching into which ye were instructed.

18 y una vez liberados del pecado llegaron a ser siervos de la justicia.

Now, having got your freedom from sin, ye have become bondmen to righteousness.

19 H ablo en términos humanos, por la debilidad de su naturaleza humana. Así como para practicar la iniquidad presentaron sus miembros para servir a la impureza y la maldad, ahora, para practicar la santidad, presenten sus miembros para servir a la justicia.

I speak humanly on account of the weakness of your flesh. For even as ye have yielded your members in bondage to uncleanness and to lawlessness unto lawlessness, so now yield your members in bondage to righteousness unto holiness.

20 C uando ustedes eran esclavos del pecado, eran libres en cuanto a la justicia.

For when ye were bondmen of sin ye were free from righteousness.

21 ¿ Pero qué provecho sacaron de eso? Ahora ustedes se avergüenzan de aquellas cosas, pues conducen a la muerte;

What fruit therefore had ye then in the things of which ye are now ashamed? for the end of them death.

22 p ero como ya han sido liberados del pecado y hechos siervos de Dios, el provecho que obtienen es la santificación, cuya meta final es la vida eterna.

But now, having got your freedom from sin, and having become bondmen to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end eternal life.

23 P orque la paga del pecado es muerte, pero la dádiva de Dios es vida eterna en Cristo Jesús, nuestro Señor.

For the wages of sin death; but the act of favour of God, eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
