1 L a palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

2 « ¿Acaso tú, hijo de hombre, no vas a dictar sentencia contra la ciudad que derrama sangre? ¿Acaso no le vas a señalar todos sus actos repugnantes?

And thou, son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? Yea, cause her to know all her abominations,

3 D ile que así ha dicho Dios el Señor: “¡Ciudad que en tus calles derramas sangre, ciudad que te contaminas con los ídolos que has hecho, con lo que has provocado tu ruina!

and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: A city that sheddeth blood in her midst, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to defile herself.

4 H as pecado por la sangre que has derramado; te has contaminado con los ídolos que te hiciste; has hecho que te llegue el día, el fin de tu vida. Por lo tanto, te he puesto en vergüenza y ridículo entre todos los países.

Thou art become guilty by thy blood which thou hast shed, and hast defiled thyself with thine idols which thou hast made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come unto thy years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the nations, and a mocking unto all countries.

5 T u nombre ha quedado mancillado, y las naciones cercanas y lejanas se reirán de ti, pues has quedado presa de gran confusión.”

Those that are near, and those that are far from thee, shall mock thee, who art infamous full of tumult.

6 » Los príncipes de Israel hacen todo lo que pueden por derramar sangre.

Behold, the princes of Israel have been in thee to shed blood, each according to his power.

7 E n tus calles se desprecia al padre y a la madre, al extranjero se le trata con violencia, y a las viudas y a los huérfanos se les despoja.

In thee have they made light of father and mother; in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger; in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the widow.

8 A mis santuarios los menosprecias, y a mis días de reposo los profanas.

Thou hast despised my holy things, and hast profaned my sabbaths.

9 T us habitantes calumnian para derramar sangre, y celebran banquetes en la cumbre de los montes. ¡En tus calles cometen actos perversos!

In thee there have been slanderous men to shed blood; and in thee have they eaten upon the mountains; in the midst of thee they have committed lewdness;

10 S e deshonra a los padres, y se viola a las mujeres, aun cuando estén menstruando.

in thee have they discovered their fathers' nakedness; in thee have they humbled her that was unclean in her separation.

11 N o hay nadie en ti que no cometa actos vergonzosos con la mujer de su prójimo, ni quien no manche el honor de su nuera, ni quien no viole a su hermana por parte de padre.

And one hath committed abomination with his neighbour's wife; and another hath lewdly defiled his daughter-in-law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father's daughter.

12 H ay en ti quienes cobran para derramar sangre; otros prestan dinero con interés y por usura; otros más defraudan y explotan a su prójimo. ¡Te has olvidado de mí! Palabra de Dios el Señor.

In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast overreached thy neighbours by oppression, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord Jehovah.

13 » ¡Mira cómo agito mis manos por causa de tus hechos de avaricia, y por la sangre que en ti se ha derramado!

And behold, I have smitten mine hand at thine overreaching which thou hast done, and at thy bloodshed which hath been in the midst of thee.

14 ¿ Crees que tu corazón y tus manos podrán hacerme frente cuando yo proceda contra ti? Yo, el Señor, he hablado y voy a actuar.

Shall thy heart endure, shall thy hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I Jehovah have spoken, and will do.

15 V oy a dispersarte por todas las naciones, voy a esparcirte por todos los países, ¡voy a acabar con tu inmundicia!

And I will scatter thee among the nations, and disperse thee through the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee.

16 ¡ Tú misma te rebajarás a la vista de las naciones! Así sabrás que yo soy el Señor.»

And thou shalt be polluted through thyself in the sight of the nations, and thou shalt know that I Jehovah.

17 L a palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

18 « Hijo de hombre, para mí el pueblo de Israel se ha convertido en escoria. Todos ellos son bronce y estaño, hierro y plomo en medio del horno. ¡Se han convertido en escoria de plata!

Son of man, the house of Israel is become dross to me: they are all copper, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace: they are become the dross of silver.

19 P or tanto, así ha dicho Dios el Señor: Ya que todos ustedes se han convertido en escoria, voy a juntarlos en el centro de Jerusalén,

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye are all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem.

20 c omo si juntara plata, bronce, hierro, plomo y estaño, para encender fuego en medio del horno y fundirlos allí. En mi furor y enojo voy a juntarlos y a ponerlos allí, para fundirlos.

they gather silver, and copper, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it, so will I gather you in mine anger and in my fury, and I will lay you on and melt you.

21 V oy a juntarlos y, con el fuego de mi furor, soplaré sobre ustedes y los fundiré en medio del horno.

Yea, I will collect you, and blow upon you the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst thereof.

22 V an a ser fundidos allí, en medio del horno, como se funde la plata. Así sabrán que yo, el Señor, he descargado mi enojo sobre ustedes.»

As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall ye be melted in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I Jehovah have poured out my fury upon you.

23 L a palabra del Señor vino a mí, y me dijo:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

24 « Hijo de hombre, dile a la tierra de Israel: “Tierra que en el día del furor haya sido limpiada, tú no lo eres; ¡ni siquiera has sido rociada con lluvia!

Son of man, say unto her, Thou art a land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.

25 E n medio de ti los profetas se han confabulado y, como leones feroces, despedazan a su presa, se devoran a la gente, se apropian de haciendas y de honras, y hacen que aumente el número de viudas.

There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst of her like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they devour souls; they take away treasure and precious things; they increase her widows in the midst of her;

26 S us sacerdotes violan mi ley, contaminan mis santuarios, y no distinguen entre lo santo y lo profano, ni entre lo puro y lo impuro; no observan mis días de reposo, y en medio de ellos se me profana.

her priests do violence to my law, and profane my holy things: they put no difference between the holy and profane, neither do they make known between the unclean and the clean, and they hide their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

27 E n sus calles, sus príncipes parecen lobos que arrebatan a su presa; derraman sangre y matan gente, para obtener ganancias injustas.

Her princes in the midst of her are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

28 S us profetas disfrazan la realidad al profetizar falsedades y al mentirles con sus adivinaciones. Dicen que yo, su Señor y Dios, he hablado, ¡y yo no les he dicho nada!”

And her prophets have daubed for them with untempered, seeing vanity and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah! and Jehovah hath not spoken.

29 » Los poderosos del país cometen robos y opresión, violentan a los pobres y menesterosos, y maltratan sin razón al extranjero.

The people of the land use oppression and practise robbery; and they vex the poor and needy, and oppress the stranger wrongfully.

30 Y o he buscado entre ellos alguien que se enfrente a mí e interceda en favor de la tierra, para que yo no la destruya. ¡Pero no he encontrado a nadie!

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the fence, and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none.

31 P or lo tanto, derramaré mi enojo sobre ellos, y con el ardor de mi ira los consumiré. ¡Haré que recaigan sobre ellos las consecuencias de su mal proceder!» Palabra de Dios el Señor.

And I will pour out mine indignation upon them; I will consume them in the fire of my wrath: their own way will I recompense upon their head, saith the Lord Jehovah.
