1 S agt euren Brüdern, sie seien mein Volk, und zu eurer Schwester, sie sei in Gnaden.

`Say ye to your brethren -- Ammi, And to your sisters -- Ruhamah.

2 S precht das Urteil über eure Mutter-sie sei nicht mein Weib, und ich will sie nicht haben! -, heißt sie ihre Hurerei von ihrem Angesichte wegtun und ihre Ehebrecherei von ihren Brüsten,

Plead ye with your mother -- plead, (For she not My wife, and I not her husband,) And she turneth her whoredoms from before her, And her adulteries from between her breasts,

3 a uf daß ich sie nicht nackt ausziehe und darstelle, wie sie war, da sie geboren ward, und ich sie nicht mache wie ein dürres Land, daß ich sie nicht Durstes sterben lasse

Lest I strip her naked. And have set her up as the day of her birth, And have made her as a wilderness, And have set her as a dry land, And have put her to death with thirst.

4 u nd mich ihrer Kinder nicht erbarme, denn sie sind Hurenkinder;

And her sons I do not pity, For sons of whoredoms they,

5 d enn ihre Mutter ist eine Hure, und die sie getragen hat, hält sich schändlich und spricht: Ich will meinen Buhlen nachlaufen, die mir geben Brot, Wasser, Wolle, Flachs, Öl und Trinken.

For gone a-whoring hath their mother, Acted shamefully hath their conceiver, For she hath said, I go after my lovers, Those giving my bread and my water, My wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.

6 D arum siehe, ich will deinen Weg mit Dornen vermachen und eine Wand davorziehen, daß sie ihren Steig nicht finden soll;

Therefore, lo, I am hedging up thy way with thorns, And I have made for her a wall, And her paths she doth not find.

7 u nd wenn sie ihren Buhlen nachläuft, daß sie dich nicht ergreifen, und wenn sie dich sucht, sie nicht finden könne und sagen müsse: Ich will wiederum zu meinem vorigen Mann gehen, da mir besser war, denn mir jetzt ist.

And she hath pursued her lovers, And she doth not overtake them, And hath sought them, and doth not find, And she hath said: I go, and I turn back unto My first husband, For -- better to me then than now.

8 D enn sie will nicht wissen, daß ich es sei, der ihr gibt Korn, Most und Öl und ihr viel Silber und Gold gegeben hat, das sie haben Baal zu Ehren gebraucht.

And she knew not that I had given to her, The corn, and the new wine, and the oil. Yea, silver I did multiply to her, And the gold they prepared for Baal.

9 D arum will ich mein Korn und meinen Most wieder nehmen zu seiner Zeit und ihr meine Wolle und meinen Flachs entziehen, damit sie ihre Blöße bedeckt.

Therefore do I turn back, And I have taken My corn in its season, And My new wine in its appointed time, And I have taken away My wool and My flax, covering her nakedness.

10 N un will ich ihre Schande aufdecken vor den Augen ihrer Buhlen, und niemand soll sie von meiner Hand erretten.

And now do I reveal her dishonour before the eyes of her lovers, And none doth deliver her out of My hand.

11 U nd ich will ein Ende machen mit allen ihren Freuden, Festen, Neumonden, Sabbaten und allen ihren Feiertagen.

And I have caused to cease all her joy, Her festival, her new moon, and her sabbath, Even all her appointed times,

12 I ch will ihre Weinstöcke und Feigenbäume wüst machen, weil sie sagt: "Das ist mein Lohn, den mir meine Buhlen gegeben." Ich will einen Wald daraus machen, daß es die wilden Tiere fressen sollen.

And made desolate her vine and her fig-tree, Of which she said, A gift they to me, That my lovers have given to me, And I have made them for a forest, And consumed them hath a beast of the field.

13 A lso will ich heimsuchen über sie die Tage der Baalim, denen sie Räuchopfer tut und schmückt sich mit Stirnspangen und Halsbändern und läuft ihren Buhlen nach und vergißt mein, spricht der HERR.

And I have charged on her the days of the Baalim, To whom she maketh perfume, And putteth on her ring and her ornament, And goeth after her lovers, And Me forgat -- an affirmation of Jehovah.

14 D arum siehe, ich will sie locken und will sie in die Wüste führen und freundlich mit ihr reden.

Therefore, lo, I am enticing her, And have caused her to go to the wilderness, And I have spoken unto her heart,

15 D a will ich ihr geben ihre Weinberge aus demselben Ort und das Tal Achor zum Tor der Hoffnung. Und daselbst wird sie singen wie zur Zeit ihrer Jugend, da sie aus Ägyptenland zog.

And given to her her vineyards from thence, And the valley of Achor for an opening of hope, And she hath responded there as in the days of her youth, And as in the day of her coming up out of the land of Egypt.

16 A lsdann spricht der HERR, wirst du mich heißen "mein Mann" und mich nicht mehr "mein Baal" heißen.

And it hath come to pass, in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah, Thou dost call Me -- My husband, And dost not call Me any more -- My lord.

17 D enn ich will die Namen der Baalim von ihrem Munde wegtun, daß man ihrer Namen nicht mehr gedenken soll.

And I have turned aside the names of the lords from her mouth, And they are not remembered any more by their name.

18 U nd ich will zur selben Zeit ihnen einen Bund machen mit den Tieren auf dem Felde, mit den Vögeln unter dem Himmel und mit dem Gewürm auf Erden und will Bogen, Schwert und Krieg vom Lande zerbrechen und will sie sicher wohnen lassen.

And I have made to them a covenant in that day, with the beast of the field, And with the fowl of the heavens, And the creeping thing of the ground, And bow, and sword, and war I break from off the land, And have caused them to lie down confidently.

19 I ch will mich mit dir verloben in Ewigkeit; ich will mich mit dir vertrauen in Gerechtigkeit und Gericht, in Gnade und Barmherzigkeit.

And I have betrothed thee to Me to the age, And betrothed thee to Me in righteousness, And in judgment, and kindness, and mercies,

20 J a, im Glauben will ich mich mit dir verloben und du wirst den HERRN erkennen.

And betrothed thee to Me in faithfulness, And thou hast known Jehovah.

21 Z ur selben Zeit, spricht der HERR, will ich erhören, ich will den Himmel erhören und der Himmel soll die Erde erhören,

And it hath come to pass in that day, I answer -- an affirmation of Jehovah, I answer the heavens, and they answer the earth.

22 u nd die Erde soll Korn, Most und Öl erhören, und diese sollen Jesreel erhören.

And the earth doth answer the corn, And the new wine, and the oil, And they answer Jezreel.

23 U nd ich will sie mir auf Erden zum Samen behalten und mich erbarmen über die, so in Ungnaden war, und sagen zu dem, das nicht mein Volk war: Du bist mein Volk; und es wird sagen: Du bist mein Gott.

And I have sowed her to Me in the land, And I have pitied Lo-Ruhamah, And I have said to Lo-Ammi, My people thou, and it saith, My God!'
