1 L e huitième mois, la seconde année de Darius, la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Zacharie, fils de Bérékia, fils d'Iddo, le prophète, en ces mots:

In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the Word of the Lord came to Zechariah the man of God, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

2 L 'Éternel a été très irrité contre vos pères.

“The Lord was very angry with your fathers.

3 D is-leur donc: Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Revenez à moi, dit l'Éternel des armées, et je reviendrai à vous, dit l'Éternel des armées.

So tell them, ‘The Lord of All says, “Return to Me, that I may return to you.

4 N e soyez pas comme vos pères, auxquels s'adressaient les premiers prophètes, en disant: Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Détournez-vous de vos mauvaises voies, de vos mauvaises actions! Mais ils n'écoutèrent pas, ils ne firent pas attention à moi, dit l'Éternel.

Do not be like your fathers. The men who spoke for Me in the past told them, ‘The Lord of All says, “Return from your sinful ways and from your sinful works.”’ But they did not listen to Me,” says the Lord.

5 V os pères, où sont-ils? et les prophètes pouvaient-ils vivre éternellement?

“Where are your fathers now? And the men who spoke for Me, do they live forever?

6 C ependant mes paroles et les ordres que j'avais donnés à mes serviteurs, les prophètes, n'ont-ils pas atteint vos pères? Ils se sont retournés, et ils ont dit: L'Éternel des armées nous a traités comme il avait résolu de le faire selon nos voies et nos actions.

I gave My Words and My Laws to your fathers through My servants who spoke for Me. But they would not listen and so they were punished. Then they were sorry for their sins and said, ‘The Lord of All has punished us for our ways and our works, as He said He would.’”’” Zechariah Sees Horses during the Night

7 L e vingt-quatrième jour du onzième mois, qui est le mois de Schebat, la seconde année de Darius, la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Zacharie, fils de Bérékia, fils d'Iddo, le prophète, en ces mots:

On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the Word of the Lord came to Zechariah the man of God, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo.

8 J e regardai pendant la nuit, et voici, un homme était monté sur un cheval roux, et se tenait parmi des myrtes dans un lieu ombragé; il y avait derrière lui des chevaux roux, fauves, et blancs.

During the night while I was sleeping I saw a man traveling on a red horse. He was standing among the myrtle trees in the narrow valley, with red, brown, and white horses behind him.

9 J e dis: Qui sont ces chevaux, mon seigneur? Et l'ange qui parlait avec moi me dit: Je te ferai voir qui sont ces chevaux.

I asked, “My lord, what are these?” And the angel who was speaking with me said, “I will show you what these are.”

10 L 'homme qui se tenait parmi les myrtes prit la parole et dit: Ce sont ceux que l'Éternel a envoyés pour parcourir la terre.

So the man who was standing among the myrtle trees said, “These are the ones whom the Lord has sent to travel all over the earth to keep watch.”

11 E t ils s'adressèrent à l'ange de l'Éternel, qui se tenait parmi les myrtes, et ils dirent: Nous avons parcouru la terre, et voici, toute la terre est en repos et tranquille.

And they said to the angel of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees, “We have looked over all the earth, and saw that the whole earth is at rest and in peace.” The Lord Comforts Jerusalem

12 A lors l'ange de l'Éternel prit la parole et dit: Éternel des armées, jusques à quand n'auras-tu pas compassion de Jérusalem et des villes de Juda, contre lesquelles tu es irrité depuis soixante-dix ans?

Then the angel of the Lord said, “O Lord of All, how long will You have no loving-pity for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah? You have been angry with them for seventy years now.”

13 L 'Éternel répondit par de bonnes paroles, par des paroles de consolation, à l'ange qui parlait avec moi.

And the Lord spoke kind and comforting words to the angel who was speaking with me.

14 E t l'ange qui parlait avec moi me dit: Crie, et dis: Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Je suis ému d'une grande jalousie pour Jérusalem et pour Sion,

So the angel who was speaking with me said to me, “Make this known: ‘The Lord of All says, “I am very jealous for Jerusalem and Zion.

15 e t je suis saisi d'une grande irritation contre les nations orgueilleuses; car je n'étais que peu irrité, mais elles ont contribué au mal.

But I am very angry with the nations who take it easy. When I was only a little angry, they added to the trouble.”

16 C 'est pourquoi ainsi parle l'Éternel: Je reviens à Jérusalem avec compassion; ma maison y sera rebâtie, et le cordeau sera étendu sur Jérusalem.

So the Lord says, “I will return to Jerusalem with loving-pity. My house will be built in it and all Jerusalem will be built again,” says the Lord of All.

17 C rie de nouveau, et dis: Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: Mes villes auront encore des biens en abondance; l'Éternel consolera encore Sion, il choisira encore Jérusalem.

Also make this known: ‘The Lord of All says, “My cities will again be filled with riches. The Lord will again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem.”’” Zechariah Sees Horns

18 J e levai les yeux et je regardai, et voici, il y avait quatre cornes.

Then I looked up and saw four horns.

19 J e dis à l'ange qui parlait avec moi: Qu'est-ce que ces cornes? Et il me dit: Ce sont les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, Israël et Jérusalem.

So I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these?” And he said, “These are the horns which have divided the people of Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”

20 L 'Éternel me fit voir quatre forgerons.

Then the Lord showed me four workmen.

21 J e dis: Que viennent-ils faire? Et il dit: Ce sont les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, tellement que nul ne lève la tête; et ces forgerons sont venus pour les effrayer, et pour abattre les cornes des nations qui ont levé la corne contre le pays de Juda, afin d'en disperser les habitants.

I said, “What are these coming to do?” And he said, “These are the horns which have sent the people of Judah everywhere, so that no man raised his head. But these workmen have come to make them afraid and to throw down the horns of the nations who have lifted up their horns against the land of Judah so the people would be sent everywhere.”
