T he king of the children of Ammon answered to the messengers of Jephthah, “Because Israel took away my land, when he came up out of Egypt, from the Arnon even to the Jabbok, and to the Jordan. Now therefore restore that territory again peaceably.”

Mbreti i bijve të Amonit iu përgjegj me këto fjalë lajmëtarëve të Jefteut: "Sepse, kur Izraeli doli nga Egjipti, ai pushtoi vendin tim, nga Arnoni deri në Jabok dhe në Jordan. Tani, pra, m’i kthe këto toka në mënyrë miqësore".
