W hen Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, Yahweh killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of animal. Therefore I sacrifice to Yahweh all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.’

dhe ndodhi që, kur Faraoni nguli këmbë të mos na linte të shkonim, Zoti vrau tërë të parëlindurit në vendin e Egjiptit, si të parëlindurit e njerëzve ashtu dhe të parëlindurit e kafshëve. Prandaj unë i bëj fli Zotit tërë meshkujt që çelin barkun, por shpengoj çdo të parëlindur të bijve të mi".
