Î n timp ce Ezra se ruga şi se destăinuia plângând şi stând cu capul plecat înaintea Casei lui Dumnezeu, s-a strâns la el o mare mulţime de bărbaţi, de femei şi de copii din Israel. Şi poporul a început astfel să plângă şi el cu amar.

Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.
