D avid i-a zis lui Ioab şi întregului popor care era cu el: „Sfâşiaţi-vă hainele, încingeţi-vă cu saci şi mergeţi bocind înaintea lui Abner.“ Regele David mergea în urma sicriului.

David said to Joab, and to all the people who were with him, “Tear your clothes, and clothe yourselves with sackcloth, and mourn in front of Abner.” King David followed the bier.
