V alea Sidim era plină de gropi cu smoală, astfel încât, atunci când regii din Sodoma şi din Gomora au fugit, unii dintre oamenii lor au căzut în ele, iar ceilalţi au fugit înspre dealuri.

Now the valley of Siddim was full of tar pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and they fell into them. But those who survived fled to the hill country.
