K oia hoki ahau ka mea nei, E kore ahau e pei atu i a ratou i to koutou aroaro; a ka waiho ratou ano he tataramoa ki o koutou kaokao; ko o ratou atua hoki hei rore mo koutou.

Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be in your sides, and their gods will be a snare to you.’”
