N a ka haere a Iepeta ki tona whare ki Mihipa, na, ko te putanga mai o tana tamahine ki te whakatau i a ia, me te timipera, me te kanikani. Ko tana huatahi ia; kahore atu hoki ana tama, tamahine ranei, ko ia anake.

Jephthah came to Mizpah to his house; and behold, his daughter came out to meet him with tambourines and with dances. She was his only child. Besides her he had neither son nor daughter.
