W hakarongo, e te whenua; tenei ahau te kawe mai nei i te kino mo tenei iwi, i nga hua o o ratou whakaaro; mo ratou kihai i whakarongo ki aku korero; ko taku ture, paopaongia ake e ratou.

Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing evil upon this people, the fruit of their thoughts (their schemes and devices) because they have not listened and obeyed My words, and as for My law, they have rejected it.
