K atahi ka mea ia, Kotahi tenei mea iti hei tononga maku ki a koe: kaua taku e whakakahoretia. A ka mea te kingi ki a ia, Tonoa, e toku whaea; e kore hoki ahau e whakakahore ki tau.

Then she said, “I ask one small petition of you; don’t deny me.” The king said to her, “Ask on, my mother; for I will not deny you.”
