K o tenei, ka mate nei ia, kia nohopuku ahau hei aha? E taea ranei ia e ahau te whakahoki mai? Ko ahau e haere ki a ia, e kore ia e hoki mai ki ahau.

But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.
