U nd da die Kanaaniter, der König von Arad, der gegen Mittag wohnte, hörte, daß Israel hereinkommt durch den Weg der Kundschafter, stritt er wider Israel und führte etliche gefangen.

The Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the South, heard that Israel came by the way of Atharim. He fought against Israel, and took some of them captive.
