A llora Saul disse al suo scudiero: «Sfodera la tua spada e trafiggimi con essa, affinché non vengano questi incirconcisi a farsi beffe di me». Ma il suo scudiero non volle farlo, perché era tutto spaventato. Allora Saul prese la spada e vi si gettò sopra.

Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me.” But his armor bearer would not; for he was terrified. Therefore Saul took his sword, and fell on it.
