1 P ortarono dunque l’arca di Dio e la collocarono in mezzo alla tenda che Davide aveva eretta per quella; e si offrirono olocausti e sacrifici di riconoscenza davanti a Dio.

And they brought in the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had spread for it; and they presented burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before God.

2 Q uando Davide ebbe finito di offrire gli olocausti e i sacrifici di riconoscenza, benedisse il popolo nel nome del Signore

And when David had ended offering up the burnt-offerings and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Jehovah.

3 e distribuì a tutti gli Israeliti, uomini e donne, un pane per uno, una porzione di carne e un dolce d’uva passa.

And he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread and a measure and a raisin-cake.

4 P oi stabilì davanti all’arca del Signore alcuni dei Leviti per fare il servizio, per invocare, celebrare e lodare il Signore, Dio d’Israele.

And he appointed certain of the Levites to do the service before the ark of Jehovah, and to celebrate, and to thank and praise Jehovah the God of Israel:

5 E rano: Asaf, il capo; Zaccaria, il secondo dopo di lui; poi Ieiel, Semiramot, Ieiel, Mattitia, Eliab, Benaia, Obed-Edom e Ieiel. Suonavano saltèri e cetre, e Asaf suonava i cembali;

Asaph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, with instruments of lutes and with harps; and Asaph sounding with cymbals;

6 i sacerdoti Benaia e Iaaziel suonavano continuamente la tromba davanti all’arca del patto di Dio.

and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.

7 A llora, in quel giorno, Davide diede per la prima volta ad Asaf e ai suoi fratelli l’incarico di cantare le lodi del Signore:

Then on that day David delivered first to give thanks to Jehovah through Asaph and his brethren.

8 « Lodate il Signore, invocate il suo nome; fate conoscere le sue gesta fra i popoli.

Give thanks unto Jehovah, call upon his name; Make known his acts among the peoples.

9 C antategli, salmeggiategli, meditate su tutte le sue meraviglie.

Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him; Meditate upon all his wondrous works.

10 G loriatevi del suo santo nome; si rallegri il cuore di quelli che cercano il Signore!

Glory in his holy name: Let the heart of them rejoice that seek Jehovah.

11 C ercate il Signore e la sua forza, cercate sempre il suo volto!

Seek Jehovah and his strength, Seek his face continually;

12 R icordatevi delle meraviglie che egli ha fatte, dei suoi miracoli e dei giudizi della sua bocca,

Remember his wondrous works which he hath done; His miracles, and the judgments of his mouth:

13 o voi, discendenza d’Israele, suo servo, figli di Giacobbe, suoi eletti!

Ye seed of Israel his servant, Ye sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.

14 E gli, il Signore, è il nostro Dio; i suoi giudizi si impongono su tutta la terra.

He, Jehovah, is our God; His judgments are in all the earth.

15 R icordatevi per sempre del suo patto, della parola da lui data per mille generazioni,

Be ye ever mindful of his covenant, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations,—

16 d el patto che fece con Abraamo, del suo giuramento fatto a Isacco

Which he made with Abraham, And of his oath unto Isaac;

17 e che confermò a Giacobbe come uno statuto, a Israele come un patto eterno,

And he confirmed it unto Jacob for a statute, Unto Israel for an everlasting covenant,

18 d icendo: “A te darò il paese di Canaan come tua parte di eredità”.

Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance;

19 N on erano allora che poca gente, pochissimi e stranieri nel paese,

When ye were a few men in number, Of small account, and strangers in it.

20 e andavano da una nazione all’altra, da un regno a un altro popolo.

And they went from nation to nation, And from one kingdom to another people.

21 E gli non permise a nessuno di opprimerli; anzi, castigò dei re per amor loro,

He suffered no man to oppress them, And reproved kings for their sakes,

22 d icendo: “Non toccate i miei unti e non fate male ai miei profeti”.

Touch not mine anointed ones, And do my prophets no harm.

23 C antate al Signore, abitanti di tutta la terra, annunciate di giorno in giorno la sua salvezza!

Sing unto Jehovah, all the earth; Publish his salvation from day to day.

24 R accontate la sua gloria fra le nazioni e le sue meraviglie fra tutti i popoli!

Declare his glory among the nations, His wondrous works among all peoples.

25 P erché il Signore è grande e degno di sovrana lode; egli è tremendo sopra tutti gli dèi.

For Jehovah is great, and exceedingly to be praised; And he is terrible above all gods.

26 P oiché tutti gli dèi dei popoli son idoli vani, ma il Signore ha fatto i cieli.

For all the gods of the peoples are idols; But Jehovah made the heavens.

27 S plendore e maestà sono davanti a lui, forza e gioia sono nella sua dimora.

Majesty and splendour are before him; Strength and gladness in his place.

28 D ate al Signore, o famiglie dei popoli, date al Signore gloria e forza.

Give unto Jehovah, ye families of peoples, Give unto Jehovah glory and strength!

29 D ate al Signore la gloria dovuta al suo nome, portategli offerte e venite in sua presenza. Prostratevi davanti al Signore vestiti di sacri ornamenti,

Give unto Jehovah the glory of his name! Bring an oblation, and come before him: Worship Jehovah in holy splendour.

30 t remate davanti a lui, abitanti di tutta la terra! Il mondo è stabile e non sarà smosso.

Tremble before him, all the earth: The world also is established, it shall not be moved.

31 S i rallegrino i cieli e gioisca la terra! Si dica fra le nazioni: “Il Signore regna”.

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, Jehovah reigneth!

32 R isuoni il mare e quanto esso contiene; esulti la campagna e tutto quel che è in essa.

Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; Let the field exult, and all that is therein.

33 G li alberi delle foreste esultino davanti al Signore, poich’egli viene a giudicare la terra.

Then shall the trees of the forest sing out at the presence of Jehovah, For he cometh to judge the earth.

34 C elebrate il Signore, perché egli è buono, perché la sua bontà dura per sempre.

Give thanks unto Jehovah, for he is good; For his loving-kindness for ever.

35 E dite: “Salvaci, o Dio della nostra salvezza! Raccoglici fra le nazioni e liberaci, affinché celebriamo il tuo santo nome e mettiamo la nostra gloria nel lodarti”.

And say, Save us, O God of our salvation, And gather us, and deliver us from the nations, To give thanks unto thy holy name, To triumph in thy praise.

36 B enedetto sia il Signore, Dio d’Israele, d’eternità in eternità!» E tutto il popolo disse: «Amen!» e lodò il Signore.

Blessed be Jehovah the God of Israel, from eternity and to eternity! And all the people said, Amen! and praised Jehovah.

37 P oi Davide lasciò là, davanti all’arca del patto del Signore, Asaf e i suoi fratelli perché fossero sempre di servizio davanti all’arca, secondo le necessità di ogni giorno.

And he left there, before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, Asaph and his brethren, to do the service before the ark continually, as every day's duty required;

38 L asciò Obed-Edom e Cosa e i loro fratelli, in numero di sessantotto: Obed-Edom, figlio di Iedutun, e Cosa, come portieri.

and Obed-Edom, and their brethren, sixty-eight; Obed-Edom also, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah as doorkeepers.

39 L asciò pure il sacerdote Sadoc e i sacerdoti suoi fratelli davanti al tabernacolo del Signore, sull’alto luogo che era a Gabaon,

And Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of Jehovah in the high place that was at Gibeon,

40 p erché offrissero olocausti al Signore, sull’altare degli olocausti, sempre, mattina e sera, ed eseguissero tutto quello che sta scritto nella legge che il Signore ha prescritto a Israele.

to offer up burnt-offerings to Jehovah on the altar of burnt-offering continually, morning and evening, and according to all that is written in the law of Jehovah, which he commanded Israel;

41 C on essi erano Eman, Iedutun e gli altri che erano stati scelti e designati per nome per lodare il Signore, perché la sua bontà dura in eterno.

and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to Jehovah, because his loving-kindness for ever;

42 E man e Iedutun erano con essi, con trombe e cembali per la musica, e con degli strumenti per i cantici in lode di Dio. I figli di Iedutun erano addetti alla porta.

and with them, Heman and Jeduthun, trumpets and cymbals for those that should sound aloud; and the musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were at the gate.

43 T utto il popolo se ne andò, ciascuno a casa sua, e Davide se ne ritornò per benedire la propria casa.

And all the people departed every one to his house; and David returned to bless his household.
