1 D anket dem HERRN und predigt seinen Namen; verkündigt sein Tun unter den Völkern!

O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

2 S inget von ihm und lobet ihn; redet von allen seinen Wundern!

Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.

3 R ühmet seinen heiligen Namen; es freue sich das Herz derer, die den HERRN suchen!

Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.

4 F raget nach dem HERRN und nach seiner Macht, suchet sein Antlitz allewege!

Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

5 G edenket seiner Wunderwerke, die er getan hat, seiner Wunder und der Gerichte seines Mundes,

Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

6 i hr, der Same Abrahams, seines Knechtes, ihr Kinder Jakobs, seine Auserwählten!

O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.

7 E r ist der HERR, unser Gott; er richtet in aller Welt.

He is the Lord our God: his judgments are in all the earth.

8 E r gedenkt ewiglich an seinen Bund, des Wortes, das er verheißen hat auf tausend Geschlechter,

He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

9 d en er gemacht hat mit Abraham, und des Eides mit Isaak;

Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;

10 u nd stellte es Jakob zu einem Rechte und Israel zum ewigen Bunde

And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

11 u nd sprach: "Dir will ich das Land Kanaan geben, das Los eures Erbes,"

Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:

12 d a sie wenig und gering waren und Fremdlinge darin.

When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.

13 U nd sie zogen von Volk zu Volk, von einem Königreich zum andern Volk.

When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;

14 E r ließ keinen Menschen ihnen Schaden tun und strafte Könige um ihretwillen.

He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;

15 " Tastet meine Gesalbten nicht an und tut meinen Propheten kein Leid!"

Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

16 U nd er ließ Teuerung ins Land kommen und entzog allen Vorrat des Brots.

Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.

17 E r sandte einen Mann vor ihnen hin; Joseph ward zum Knecht verkauft.

He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:

18 S ie zwangen seine Füße in den Stock, sein Leib mußte in Eisen liegen,

Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:

19 b is daß sein Wort kam und die Rede des HERRN ihn durchläuterte.

Until the time that his word came: the word of the Lord tried him.

20 D a sandte der König hin und ließ ihn losgeben; der HERR über Völker hieß ihn herauslassen.

The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.

21 E r setzte ihn zum Herrn über sein Haus, zum Herrscher über alle seine Güter,

He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:

22 d aß er seine Fürsten unterwiese nach seiner Weise und seine Ältesten Weisheit lehrte.

To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.

23 U nd Israel zog nach Ägypten, und Jakob ward ein Fremdling im Lande Hams.

Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

24 U nd er ließ sein Volk sehr wachsen und machte sie mächtiger denn ihre Feinde.

And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

25 E r verkehrte jener Herz, daß sie seinem Volk gram wurden und dachten, seine Knechte mit List zu dämpfen.

He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.

26 E r sandte seinen Knecht Mose, Aaron, den er erwählt hatte.

He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.

27 D ieselben taten seine Zeichen unter ihnen und seine Wunder im Lande Hams.

They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

28 E r ließ Finsternis kommen und machte es finster; und sie waren nicht ungehorsam seinen Worten.

He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.

29 E r verwandelte ihre Wasser in Blut und tötete ihre Fische.

He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

30 I hr Land wimmelte Frösche heraus in den Kammern ihrer Könige.

Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.

31 E r sprach: da kam Ungeziefer, Stechmücken in all ihr Gebiet.

He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.

32 E r gab ihnen Hagel zum Regen, Feuerflammen in ihrem Lande

He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.

33 u nd schlug ihre Weinstöcke und Feigenbäume und zerbrach die Bäume in ihrem Gebiet.

He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.

34 E r sprach: da kamen Heuschrecken und Käfer ohne Zahl.

He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,

35 U nd sie fraßen alles Gras in ihrem Lande und fraßen die Früchte auf ihrem Felde.

And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.

36 E r schlug alle Erstgeburt in Ägypten, alle Erstlinge ihrer Kraft.

He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.

37 U nd er führte sie aus mit Silber und Gold; und war kein Gebrechlicher unter ihren Stämmen.

He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

38 Ä gypten ward froh, daß sie auszogen; denn ihre Furcht war auf sie gefallen.

Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.

39 E r breitete eine Wolke aus zur Decke und ein Feuer, des Nachts zu leuchten.

He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.

40 S ie baten: da ließ er Wachteln kommen; und er sättigte sie mit Himmelsbrot.

The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.

41 E r öffnete den Felsen: da floß Wasser heraus, daß Bäche liefen in der dürren Wüste.

He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.

42 D enn er gedachte an sein heiliges Wort, das er Abraham, seinem Knecht, hatte geredet.

For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.

43 A lso führte er sein Volk in Freuden und seine Auserwählten in Wonne

And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:

44 u nd gab ihnen die Länder der Heiden, daß sie die Güter der Völker einnahmen,

And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;

45 a uf daß sie halten sollten seine Rechte und sein Gesetze bewahren. Halleluja!

That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the Lord.
