1 A son of twenty years Ahaz in his reigning, and sixteen years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and he hath not done that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, as David his father,

Acaz tenía veinte años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén; pero no hizo lo recto ante los ojos del Señor como su padre David lo había hecho,

2 a nd walketh in the ways of the kings of Israel, and also, molten images hath made for Baalim,

sino que anduvo en los caminos de los reyes de Israel; también hizo imágenes fundidas para los Baales.

3 a nd himself hath made perfume in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burneth his sons with fire according to the abominations of the nations that Jehovah dispossessed from the presence of the sons of Israel,

Además quemó incienso en el Valle de Ben Hinom, e hizo pasar a sus hijos por el fuego, conforme a las abominaciones de las naciones que el Señor había arrojado de delante de los Israelitas.

4 a nd sacrificeth and maketh perfume in high places, and on the heights, and under every green tree.

Acaz sacrificó y quemó incienso en los lugares altos, en los montes y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

5 A nd Jehovah his God giveth him into the hand of the king of Aram, and they smite him, and take captive from him a great captivity, and bring in to Damascus, and also into the hand of the king of Israel he hath been given, and he smiteth him -- a great smiting.

Por lo cual el Señor su Dios lo entregó en manos del rey de los Arameos, que lo derrotaron, tomaron de él gran número de cautivos y los llevaron a Damasco. Y también él fue entregado en manos del rey de Israel, el cual lo hirió con gran mortandad.

6 A nd Pekah son of Remaliah slayeth in Judah a hundred and twenty thousand in one day (the whole sons of valour), because of their forsaking Jehovah, God of their fathers.

Porque Peka, hijo de Remalías, mató en Judá a 120, 000 en un día, todos hombres valientes, porque habían abandonado al Señor, Dios de sus padres.

7 A nd Zichri, a mighty one of Ephraim, slayeth Maaseiah son of the king, and Azrikam leader of the house, and Elkanah second to the king.

Y Zicri, hombre poderoso de Efraín, mató a Maasías, hijo del rey, y a Azricam, mayordomo de la casa, y a Elcana, segundo después del rey.

8 A nd the sons of Israel take captive of their brethren, two hundred thousand, wives, sons and daughters, and also much spoil they have seized from them, and they bring in the spoil to Samaria.

Los Israelitas se llevaron cautivos de sus hermanos a 200, 000 mujeres, hijos e hijas; y tomaron también mucho botín de ellos y se llevaron el botín a Samaria.

9 A nd there hath been there a prophet of Jehovah (Oded his name), and he goeth out before the host that hath come in to Samaria, and saith to them, `Lo, in the fury of Jehovah God of your fathers against Judah, He hath given them into your hand, and ye slay among them in rage -- unto the heavens it hath come;

Pero había allí un profeta del Señor llamado Oded, y éste salió al encuentro del ejército que venía a Samaria, y les dijo: “Porque el Señor, Dios de sus padres, estaba lleno de ira contra Judá, los ha entregado en sus manos, y ustedes los han matado con una furia que ha llegado hasta el cielo.

10 a nd now, sons of Judah and Jerusalem ye are saying to subdue for men-servants and for maid-servants to you; but are there not with you causes of guilt before Jehovah your God?

Y ahora se proponen subyugar a los hijos de Judá y de Jerusalén como sus esclavos y esclavas. ¿No tienen ciertamente transgresiones de parte de ustedes contra el Señor su Dios?

11 a nd now, hear me, and send back the captives whom ye have taken captive of your brethren, for the heat of the anger of Jehovah upon you.'

Ahora pues, óiganme, y devuelvan a los cautivos que capturaron de sus hermanos, porque el furor de la ira del Señor está contra ustedes.”

12 A nd certain of the heads of the sons of Ephraim (Azariah son of Johanan, Berechiah son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai), rise up against those coming in from the host,

Entonces algunos de los jefes de los hijos de Efraín: Azarías, hijo de Johanán, Berequías, hijo de Mesilemot, Ezequías, hijo de Salum, y Amasa, hijo de Hadlai, se levantaron contra los que venían de la batalla,

13 a nd say to them, `Ye do not bring in the captives hither, for, to guilt against Jehovah on us, ye are saying to add unto our sin and unto our guilt? for abundant the guilt we have, and the fierceness of anger on Israel.'

y les dijeron: “No traigan aquí a los cautivos; porque se proponen traer sobre nosotros culpa contra el Señor, añadiendo a nuestros pecados y a nuestra culpa. Porque nuestra culpa es grande y el furor de Su ira está contra Israel.”

14 A nd the armed men leave the captives and the prey before the heads and all the assembly;

Entonces los hombres armados dejaron a los cautivos y el botín delante de los oficiales y de toda la asamblea.

15 a nd the men who have been expressed by name rise and take hold on the captives, and all their naked ones they have clothed from the spoil, yea, they clothe them, and shoe them, and cause them to eat and drink, and anoint them, and lead them on asses, even every feeble one, and bring them in to Jericho, the city of palms, near their brethren, and turn back to Samaria.

Y se levantaron los hombres que habían sido designados por nombre y tomaron a los cautivos, y del botín vistieron a todos los desnudos y les dieron vestidos y sandalias. También les dieron de comer y de beber y los ungieron, y a todos los débiles los condujeron en asnos y los llevaron a Jericó, ciudad de las palmeras, a sus hermanos; entonces regresaron a Samaria.

16 A t that time hath king Ahaz sent unto the king of Asshur to give help to him;

En aquel tiempo el rey Acaz envió a pedir ayuda a los reyes de Asiria.

17 a nd again the Edomites have come, and smite in Judah, and take captive a captivity.

Porque los Edomitas habían venido de nuevo y atacado a Judá y se habían llevado algunos cautivos.

18 A nd the Philistines have rushed against the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and capture Beth-Shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho and its villages, and Timnah and its villages, and Gimzo and its villages, and dwell there,

También los Filisteos habían invadido las ciudades de las tierras bajas y del Neguev de Judá, y habían tomado Bet Semes, Ajalón, Gederot y Soco con sus aldeas, Timna con sus aldeas, y Gimzo con sus aldeas; y se establecieron allí.

19 f or Jehovah hath humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Israel, for he made free with Judah, even to commit a trespass against Jehovah.

Porque el Señor humilló a Judá a causa de Acaz, rey de Israel, pues él había permitido el desenfreno en Judá, y fue muy infiel al Señor.

20 A nd Tilgath-Pilneser king of Asshur cometh in unto him, and doth distress him, and hath not strengthened him,

Y vino contra él Tilgat Pilneser, rey de Asiria, y lo afligió en vez de fortalecerlo.

21 t hough Ahaz hath taken a portion of the house of Jehovah, and of the house of the king, and of the princes, and giveth to the king of Asshur, yet it is no help to him.

Pues Acaz había tomado una porción del tesoro de la casa del Señor, del palacio del rey y de los príncipes, y la había dado al rey de Asiria; pero no le sirvió de nada.

22 A nd in the time of his distress -- he addeth to trespass against Jehovah, (this king Ahaz),

Y en el tiempo de su angustia este rey Acaz fue aún más infiel al Señor.

23 a nd he sacrificeth to the gods of Damascus -- those smiting him, and saith, `Because the gods of the kings of Aram are helping them, to them I sacrifice, and they help me,' and they have been to him to cause him to stumble, and to all Israel.

Sacrificaba a los dioses de Damasco que lo habían derrotado, y decía: “Por cuanto los dioses de los reyes de Aram los ayudaron, sacrificaré a ellos para que me ayuden.” Pero ellos fueron su ruina y la de todo Israel.

24 A nd Ahaz gathereth the vessels of the house of God, and cutteth in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shutteth the doors of the house of Jehovah, and maketh to himself altars in every corner in Jerusalem.

Además, cuando Acaz recogió los utensilios de la casa de Dios, hizo pedazos los utensilios de la casa de Dios; cerró las puertas de la casa del Señor e hizo para sí altares en cada rincón de Jerusalén.

25 A nd in every city and city of Judah he hath made high places to make perfume to other gods, and provoketh Jehovah, God of his fathers.

En cada ciudad de Judá hizo lugares altos para quemar incienso a otros dioses, y provocó a ira al Señor, Dios de sus padres.

26 A nd the rest of his matters, and all his ways, the first and the last, lo, they are written on the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

Los demás hechos de Acaz y todos sus caminos, los primeros y los postreros, están escritos en el Libro de los Reyes de Judá y de Israel.

27 A nd Ahaz lieth with his fathers, and they bury him in the city, in Jerusalem, but have not brought him in to the graves of the kings of Israel, and reign doth Hezekiah his son in his stead.

Acaz durmió con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad, en Jerusalén, pues no lo pusieron en los sepulcros de los reyes de Israel. Su hijo Ezequías reinó en su lugar.
