O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.

2 T u hai fatto tremare la terra, l'hai squarciata; risana le sue fratture, perché essa barcolla.

Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.

3 T u hai inflitto al tuo popolo cose dure; ci hai dato da bere del vino di stordimento.

Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.

4 M a ora tu hai dato a quelli che ti temono una bandiera, perché sia innalzata in favore della verità. (Sela)

Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.

5 S alva con la tua destra e rispondimi, affinché quelli che tu ami siano liberati

That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.

6 D IO ha parlato nella sua SANTITA': «trionferò, io spartirò Sichem e misurerò la valle di Sukkoth.

God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

7 M io è Galaad e mio è Manasse. Efraim è la forza del mio capo, Giuda è il mio legislatore;

Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;

8 M oab è il catino in cui mi lavo; su Edom getterò il mio sandalo, sulla Filistia alzerò grida di vittoria».

Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.

9 C hi mi condurrà nella città forte? Chi mi condurrà fino a Edom?

Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

10 N on sarai proprio tu, o DIO, che ci hai respinto? Non uscirai piú, o DIO, coi nostri eserciti?

Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?

11 D acci aiuto contro il nemico, perché vano è il soccorso dell'uomo.

Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

12 C on DIO noi faremo prodezze, ed egli calpesterà i nostri nemici.

Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
